Howdy!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting up with forum user The_Nutter in Brighton for a quick pint.

We met up in GAK, Brighton's biggest guitar shop. I was late (as usual) and arrived to find The_Nutter checking out the Telecasters. I wandered over and have a terrible feeling that one of the first things out of my mouth was....

“Blimey, your a tall bugger aren't you?”

He laughed and made a similar remark regarding my height (we're both lanky gits) before we went for a quick browse of their fine collection of Fender Strats. We talked briefly about the CP60's Strats and his difficulty finding a Fender neck that has enough girth to match what could only be describes as his huge “Stranglers Hands”! :D

We then popped down the road for a pint of Bombardier in the William IV pup where we discussed many things including, workbenches, amps, his nicely made Vox head, future build projects, what a great forum this is.

I had to drive later so we wandered over to a cafe in the North Lanes for Tea and Coffee where we had a great discussion about the exciting Ceri, Nutter Master wound custom pickups which are currently being conceptualised in my build thread while I sort out some audio samples. Possibly the most interesting thread hijack I've seen!

Due to family commitments I had to leave early, which was a shame as The_Nutter is good company and I could have quite happily sat and discussed guitar related geekery with him all day!

I can confirm that The_Nutter is a top chap on and off the forum and I am very much looking forward to our next encounter which I hope will not be as brief.

Cheers!

Andy

P.S: Alex if your reading this, the next round is on me! :D

Ah, umm, why thankyou, Andy, likewise! I had a great time and learnt a huge bunch of very interesting techie things - and having a peek into future BigHair build concepts admittedly made my knees tremble with excitement! So thanks for taking the time out of your busy busy schedule! It was an honour and a pleasure! :D

I have only one criticism to our little encounter: We have no photographical proof of it! Can you believe it?? But then again, it only shows how absorbed we were in a highly entertaining and diverse conversation. We simply forgot! 8)

BUT since there might be a chance of another South East UK meet-up, I shall ensure that photographic evidence shall be taken care of. If that is wanted - but c'mon folks, this is a place that loves piccies, no?

I also would like to say what a fine chap Andy is! Another meet-up with him would be a pleasure - and I can recommend his company only in the highest possible way!

cheers all

-Nutter

P.S.: Andy if you're reading this: Agreed. But the round after that is on me again. :D

Ah-ha! Anyone who treasures teenage memories of sneaking in under age to see Quadrophenia when it first came out knows that knee-tremblers are one of the most famous cultural activities in Brighton. Ah, Lesley Ash when she was young... [De-e-e-e-ep sigh...]

I am SO frustrated not to have been able to be there (family commitments at the other end of the country). Love that Bombadier beer, apart from anything else!

However. There might be further Forum meetings rather soon. Don't want to get ahead of ourselves but you can be certain this aspect will be covered next time around:

Erm - as I just said! :D

Anyhow. Andy and The Nutter both know what I'm talking about. So are you gonna be able to make it, Andy?

 I still have to see Quadrophenia - I admit I haven't got round to it yet! But I've seen some hefty movie posters (they're all over the place here, aren't they?) and I have a feeling it won't be long until the Nutter shall purchase a silver disk containing said flick. 8)

So, let's keep fingers crossed Mr BigHair can make it. It'd be a lot of work finishing all those Bombardiers on our own, eh, Ceri? don't worry children, this is not going to be a drink fest. :D

Later -

-Nutter

Riley, if I look to the left, under your Username there's the indication that I have to die now - please make an exception, mate, will you?

Closest I could get to you is NZ, I think some old friends moved there. One day you guys should set up an Oceania - meeting and gather together at Ishibashi or something! Wouldn't that be cool? :)
Kudos for the live performance, by the way, Riley; read about it on the other thread. Well done mate. Balls of steel, that man, folks!
