Has anybody ever transported a small amp as hand luggage. I would not be too happy letting a Fender 57 Deluxe go into the hold, considering the way luggage handlers sometimes operate. Are airlines sympatheticto our cause. Lufthansa?
I will be flying to Chicago next week from europe & would light to pick up an amp in the US.

thanks

anthony

Hi anthony466,

These days, I wouldn't even want to try that! Maybe a good ATA case, something like this? Or, it might be cheaper to ship it back.

Depending where in Europe you are, it's cheaper just to buy one at home.

You'll be hit with a import tax bill upon returning to your country.

Yeah apart from import taxes youd have to be sure USA voltage and frequency is good for your neck of the woods too.

Ive bought USA electronics but only where destined for Europe and shipped / insured via regular routes.

Just my 2 pennorth worth.

.. Al

It might be cheaper to go buy an amp at GC and play your gig then return it for cash back. You get thirty days before your stuck with it.

They really ought to have a rental fleet that would be sympathetic to travelling musician.
