Hi Alex: I believe this is too much equipment for a home guitarist. But I could be mistaken:

Hum Yea, except a lot more enjoyable :!:
It is also contageous, one of your mates picks up something new and all of a sudden your GAS condition is in overdrive again.

Your question hints at the answer.
You need to get yourself a band.

...you're new here! it shows  Get as much you like! when it gets to the stage where you are playing in a huge room with only a few feet to move within then maybe its time to sell a few to replace that blacktop on the driveway 8)

i have only one electric guitar
i had it for more than 10 years now
it is a MIM Strat in HSS
so far it is the only electric guitar i need
thanks to the HSS configuration
with both single coil and humbucker in one guitar
as for how many guitar is too many
it's your money so you can get as many as you like
there is no rules to limit someone from buying things he like
with his money

Had mine pretty much under control for 25 years (with the occasional 'slip'). Career, home, family, grandkids etc etc. But, OMG it's back! Full blown! Two guitars and an amp in the last year! More on the way. Help!

'Empty Nest' = more room for gear!

Making up for lost time and taking serious advantage of the small window of opportunity between retirement and arthritis. Life begins again after 50... ok, actually a fair bit after 50.

PS: I'm new here too, and brother GASer's, I'm thinkin' we're gonna get along just fine! :D

Just go for it dude, you can never have too much equipment. Now the flip side of that is, it is possible to run out of room to put it.

It just depends on what makes you happy. I have thinned out a lot of my gear, and im down to 4 guitars and 2 amps. And realistically, I dont need that. I only play 2 of the guitars (one electric, and one acoustic) and one amp, and I havent felt the urge to buy anything else in a while. If you think that buying some more gear will make you happy, then by all means go for it!

My music room is so full of gear that it's literally impossible to play in it any more and that's with 2 amps and 9 guitars taken out of it. I have no other choice but to turn the music room into a TV/library/reading room and the rec room into the music room-there's no way I'd sell gear to make room.

now dude this is cool as hell looking.
do us a favor, do some more pics and take us on a verbal tour of this
mess of goodness.
when folks think of studio some seem to think one needs a lot of room
to make one at home. not ture.
looks like you have plenty on a small footprint.
it would be very exciting to see you do a post on this.

I used to say 'too much stuff is never enough'. through out the years, with being married and having 2 kids, that philosophy has changed a bit. My wife thinks 2 acoustic guitars, 1 acoustic bass, and 3 J basses my wife said it's enough. I play thru a mini full stack. Hartke Transient Attack 5000 head, w/210XL & 115XL cabs.

I agree with JohnZ6. I felt guilty when I bought my second guitar, then I
thought: Jay Leno doesn't think he has too many cars. If you don't try lots of gear you may miss that something special. Just pay cash for it.
