to much gear? never.
i say buy enough stuff that your wife cant tell whats what when you buy something new she doesnt notice.

i buy something every 2-4 weeks.
my advice is to plan your purchases so your not just throwing money out the window.

I'm not married, my girlfriend lives with me :( , so, I can't exactly come home with a new piece of equipment every week, but I imagine I can get away with it more than if I was married.

Seems to me that I don't have nearly as much equipment as some of you guys, so, I got some catching up to do :D .
Don't feel bad Alex, Being single ties up your cash in other, The Rent, The Student Loans, The insurance payments, etc, etc. That makes it difficult to spend as much as I'd like to, But my last live in girl left because she said I held the Guitar more than her. I told her the guitar didn't get mad at me and nag all the time. Oh. Well

Well, my girlfriend payed for my Blacktop Strat, as a b-day gift :D. I was telling her how I missed my Strat (I gave it to my cousins kid, I got him into playing guitar), and well, she payed for my guitar. But now I want a 60's Strat. I have read really good reviews about the Classic Player and Classic Series.

Do you still have a roof over your head?
Are you still communicating with your better ( more Sensible ) half ?
Is this your only sin ?

Then don't walk, but run to your nearest musical instrument shelter and ADOPT !!! 8)

Bills payed.

Roof over my head. I usually pay my rent months at a time, to not worry paying the next month. I'm a weirdo.

My better half gave me my Blacktop for my birthday.

Yes, this is my only sin. I hope.

I do agree. I go to a gig to see a band, not lights and hydraulics. Which is why I avoid the stadium type show these days.

Still, as a modest home practice rig I'm sure that setup has its virtues...

Well I'm just assuming there must be tons and tons of gear in those flight cases (the flight cases with the cabs and and the wheels, I'm talking about).

Actually, I've never been to a U2 gig so I don't really know. In fact I was searching for a photo of the convoy of personalised trucks that used to carry Emerson, Lake and Palmer's gear around - damned if I could find that picture on the net though. Now someone will dig it up easily and show how I didn't search properly...

Cheers - C

there was a photo of rigs that carried a stones reunion tour from back in the late 80's early 90s. they all emerged at the last show. the stones stage was so big and took so long to set up, there was 7 total stages being set up in advance all over the place. there were so many truck you couldnt get them all in the pics.

Yeah, it was the last Stones show I saw (on the Forty Licks tour) that put the final nail in the coffin of my stadium going days. Lord, they were bad.

Well, that's not really fair. I guess they could have been great for all I know. I couldn't see them they were so far away and I couldn't hear them, the sound and acoustics were so lousy. Everyone around was trying to guess which number was playing by lip-reading Jagger on the huge screen - might as well have stayed at home and watched the DVD.

And I could have bought 60 DVDs for the price of two tickets.

Odd thing: when people run "best and worst live shows you ever saw" threads on this Forum The Who are usually around the top of the best list and the Stones are generally at the top of the worst one. I'd go along with that...

Cheers - C

It is never enough! :)
I only have 6 guitars and 4 amps (2 of them on the large side)
A pile of effects, box of harmonicas, drum machine and a small recording studio setup.

All in the livingroom :) wife took over the basement for a gym so I am comfortabley warm and numb by the fireplace most of the day.

The GAS never seems to end, sometimes quiets down for a while but the condition flairs up often!
Now I am thinking I might "need" a looper or a uke :)
