Alright, I only play at home and occasionally record some of the music I compose. The reason I am asking this is because I find it hard to resist buying additional equipment, since I don't gig. I love music and playing guitar, and if I find a guitar or amp I like, well, I want to buy it. I love having different tones, different sounds available to make whenever I please.

Currently I have;

Gibson Les Paul Studio
Fender Blacktop Strat
Fender Jaguar Bass
Line 6 Spider III 120W
Acoustic B20 bass amp

Plus, all of my recording equipment.

And now, I want to get;

Fender Classic Player or Classic series 60's Strat
Vox AC4TV

Should I get some sense knocked into me and resist not buying, or, should I just go for it?

Nice guitars!
Well, I guess I am going to buy the Vox AC4TV. I have been wanting for a while a small tube amp, and I guess this will be my next purchase, and a couple of months I will buy that classic series Strat! :D

Yeah, when I was testing the tube amps at GC today, they sound much clearer, brighter, and more of a "natural" tone than my Line 6 Spider III. In fact, it kinda made my Line 6 sound like a garbage amp.

What really upset me about my Line 6, was that even the Fender Mustang I for $99, which is a solid state modeling amp, sounded better.

I have a line six spider 3. but once i got my Fender blues junior tube amp the line 6 didn't even compare. The line 6 just dosn't sound pure enough for me liek tubes do.

Dude, asking another guitarist how much "too much gear is" is akin to asking an alcoholic if he would like another sip. Be honest, you came here to feel better about your decisions. Well, sit back and relax because every single one of us on here has stuff that we didn't really need but we'd buy again in a heartbeat. Not to mention things to come. hehe!!

LOLOL

Hey, I found a spare pickguard screw......

Actually my situation isn't that serious -- all my gear would barely fill two pickup trucks and my wife's Honda Pilot.

Hi Alex - Welcome to the Forums!

I am in the same situation. My place is small and I'm running out of room. I have 12 guitars, a bass, 5 amps (all Fender), a keyboard, two recording interfaces, more software than I could ever learn to use, plug-ins scattered all over the desktop, and songwriting software in the netbook. Now all I need is:

A better pre-amp;
Another Shure SM57;
Marshall Class 5 amp now that they've fixed the bugs;
Electric 12-string;
Electric baritone guitar;
New MIDI controller;
A Mesa/Boogie amp (so expensive);
and . . .
a Uni-Vibe clone with real stereo output that doesn't cost $300.

That will keep me satisfied . . . for a while.

alexlivefree,
Welcome to the forum. This is the place where all your purchases are accepted so you can justify anything you buy. You can never have too much stuff.

I guess it depends on how big your house is. No such thing as too much gear, just too little house! :D
