What are you talking about Niki? The article was written by Chris Kies and Jordan Wagner, both work for Premier Guitar. Janey Hendricks had nothing to do with the article.

Are you really that naive, to believe that anything printed about that debacle was not first vetted and edited by the hendericks corporation?

Do you really believe anything written by a publication that makes money from adverisment rather than profit from a satisfied customer base? You cant slam a product that manufacturer has just you paid muchos spondoolicks to advertize.

If I were you mate, I'd take a good look at what I let enter my brain.

The guy should play a modern Chinese strat copy. It would probably be a better guitar.

+1000!!! One of my favourite posters on my wall when I was a kid was a centerfold from Guitar For The Practicing Musician of Jimi playing Woodstock holding that '69 Strat.

Have you seen the Woodstock DVD? There's gotta be some good footage of the guitar.

Possibly, but the article had dedicated write-ups of 11 artists on the tour. All of the other artists covered talked about the gear they were using and their thoughts on Hendrix. The KWS write-up was the only one that talked about the artists performance. If what you're saying was true then all of the artist covered would have been described as the next coming of Hendrix just to draw more people to buy tickets to the tour... but that's not the case. Most of the article was about gear and influences, KWS was singled out to talk about how good a job he did.

So you do believe guitar magazine (online or paper) articles and reviews? There has never been a bad product released since 1982. the hendericks corporation don't closely monitor all that is published about them and don't have a penchant for prosecution?

Not saying KWS didn't do a good job, just don't believe what you read online or in gutter rags. Not even saying that KWS is not worthy of playing the guitar. I happen to believe Triton Thrashers post to the upmost. If you could stop the kneejerk reaction you'd see all I really said was that this is going to tick off everyone but those loyally devoted few and those who don't care either way. Non of em will win any new audience through this. It's a pointless excersize.

Trust me the pieces of that article pertaining to performance on the day were certainly vetted and probably edited before they were published. There's no free press when you owe your wage packet to your advertizers.

I would like to clear up one little point janie hendrix isn't Jimi's half sister -despite the fact she never corrects this when someone refers to her as such when introducing her etc.-she is in fact just barely a step sister Al Hendrix(Jimi's off again on again father)adopted her in 1968.Al married janie's mother long after Jimi had left home and Jimi only met her three times at the most as a matter of fact on his last phone call to home he couldn't even remember her name. She says that she's doing all this selflessly to keep the memory of her "big brother alive" give me a break, those of us who love Jimi and his music were doing this long before she came along with her team of money hungry mercenaries and we will continue to do so.I do however refuse to buy anything that will bring money into her empire and only get pirated downloads as I don't want any part of the charade she's perpetrating.BTW Jimi's true blood relatives-his real siblings are living either in poverty or institutionalized, oddly janie never sees fit to give anything to her "other Brothers and sisters" Leon,Patrick,Kathy Ira and Pamela.

Yeah I totally agree with you on that one. One of my gripes with PG is that none of their gear reviews receive less than 4 out of 5 stars. The editor of PG has explained that they only cover the best of the best, they have no reason to cover bad gear, only what's good and popular. I really hate their "Skip If..." for the products. It usually says "Skip if you don't want to melt everyones face off".

See mate its all a advertizing ploy. All their doing is filling our heads with the idea of buying gear. Their paid by manufacturers to do it.

I haven't bought a guitar mag, or even paid too much attention to online advertizing for a year now. I don't want a new guitar, amp, pedal or anything. Of the 9 guitars, 5 amps and too many pedals I keep round the house. I use 3 guitars and 2 amps, only one amp for home use and two guitars. Ok I'm a bit of a pedal freak and do like tremolo'd, multi octave, delayed and wah'd Fuzz. (gotta be able to do the whale song somehow). I can really see a good chunk of gear hitting ebay soon. I'm a better player for not worrying about how things sound through this or that setup.

I honestly think KWS will smoke on that guitar, I really do. I think any of us would immediately have our ability level lifted by a factor of 10. Just because we'd be so happy at playing one of JH's strats. It's a dream come true to a lot of folks.
I just don't think it will do much at all for KWS outside of his existing fanbase. Though I gotta admit, however much I'm against the idea of dragging that guitar out as a marketing stunt. I am interested in hearing it. They've just got to make sure it goes into 3 plexi's on 10. Lets see who's man enough to stand infront of that rig. A single plexi halfstack is painfull enough. Never mind the take your head off top cab then times it by three.

Wasn't Hendrix's last string gauge on it something like 38, 30, 22, 14, 10, 10?
Be interesting to know how they have it strung for players used to more modern ideas.

The other thing is what Triton Thrasher said, he'd be better off with a Squier.

There could well be a lot of truth in that. In my far distant youth I had chance to buy a ex Hendrix plexi stack and was advised against it. He hammered his gear, constantly. I'm pretty sure these rock stars didn't tour with the entourage of techs and magicians in them days. Lemmy from motorhead was his roadie.

That guitar could be in a right state. Mike Eldred disected the thing for a tribute guitar. I don't think he'd have let the thing go back out in anything other than perfectly playable condition. You simply don't know though, he may have been under instruction to return it 'as is'.

I meant it completely literally, but only that, if that makes sense. The ex-Jimi Strat is probably a mediocre guitar, unless it's been gone over and set up to such an extent that it's not even like the guitar Jimi played.

But there's obviously more to the music business than only having the best players on the best instruments. It is interesting to see and hear this guitar played, even if it only confirms that it's nothing special. I doubt that any of us are against this guy or any other guitarist playing it, but there's a definite "big deal" factor. I'd play it myself- at least I'm left handed, even if my playing is pretty bad.

I was at Johnny and the Roccos pub gig at the 2009 Isle of Man TT and he pulled out a hollow bodied guitar that he said he got from Scotty Moore. Fine- it was mildly interesting and seemed to play ok. It certainly didn't detract from the show, but I was more fascinated by the geriatric drummer and the stary-eyed German bull fiddle-plucker. Oh yes and a short-arsed old rocker in the crowd who appeared to have constructed a DA haircut from spray-on flock.

Is this event still on?

I can't see it on the NBC site. Nov 10 mentions Jonsi as the music act.

He wasn't on last night (which was the 10th), and it says Jonsi is performing tonight.

Did anyone catch Kenny on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon?

They only talked to him for about 10 seconds and Jimmy pointed out the Woodstock strat. I don't know if Kenny is a small guy but that Strat looked huge! Sounded great too... had a nice growl to it.

Unfortunately they didn't play a full song just the pre/post commercial bits. I hate when they bring on a great guitar players and do that. Bonamassa got the same treatment on Lopez Tonight. At least we got a chance to see that Strat in action again.

I did notice that they left on the strap button Jimi installed on the bottom horn.
