I don't find anything wrong with KWS playing it. He does deserve it, i mean come on how often does KWS get in the spotlight? He's a true musician, awesome blues. Better than Mayer IMO. I mean the only other person i could think to play it would be SRV but he's no longer with us, so why not get the next best thing with KWS?

I agree with this statement. I see nothing wrong with KWS playing the guitar. Bonamassa doesn't play a Strat anymore or he would be my first choice. Really surprised they didn't get Mayer to do it just based on how "popular" that choice would be.

i just don't think Mayer deserves it though. I mean he knows his way around a strat, don't get me wrong, but KWS has been around longer and Mayer didn't really show his expertise until recently with his last 2 albums. But what do i know, i am only a meager fan :D :D

I'm in total agreement with you man. KWS is a better choice based on skill and his tenure. I just meant it would be a more "popular" choice to have mayer do it, as in more teenieboppers and fanboys would line up in droves to see that. I hope KWS does it big though, cant wait to see that!

+1 on Ernie Isley. How about Trower or Randy Hanson, or even Frank Marino.

I think the guitar should be in a museum if anything. I honestly don't care who plays it though.

Is KWS going to give it the kind of love Jimi gave it?...of course not but if you are not playing a guitar then it's just a piece of wood.

I'm sure anybody on this board would play it if given a chance and we're "unworthy" so let it go.

It's just like i think Mayer shouldn't be allowed to share a stage with Clapton, but somehow he always gets to....

oh well.

+ 1 for Randy! Also has some connection with Hendrix from "way back", plus he is a great showman and SINGS the tunes, not just plays them, like Kenny...

Why is it that we and a group are so hard on the ones that make it big, right up until the day the die, then we make them into saints.

I am old enough to remember how Stevie Ray Vaughan was dogged while he was alive, just a Jimi wanna be......stole all his licks from (Fill in the blank here)....
Plays the same lick over and over again....just like how some here dog Eric Clapton.

Right up until the day Stevie died in the crash, then the same people all started to say what a tragic loss and what a talent he was Blaa Blaa blaa...

Just look at Michel Jackson, the (Alleged) child loving wacko......now he more popular then ever....

Kenny is a very talented player, and I think it's great he will have the chance to play Jimi's guitar.
And as to the loss of mojo, well, are you saying when Frank Zappa played he had no Mojo? That was a guitar that Jimi gave him after he burned it on stage.

And to those who insist on putting Kenny down, well then, by all means, please pick up your guitar and prove to us how much better you are then Kenny.

Post it on you tube so we all can see....

Anyone who's been keeping up the the Experience Hendrix Tour knows why KWS is the one getting to play her... he's been tearing it up on stage for the past few years. All reviews of his performances are more than positive.

I'd also like to point out something to those complaining about changing the nut to suit a right handed player... the guitar is a righty!!!!

Chill out, it'd be very easy to put the lefty nut back on.

best suggestion yet and someone who would do actual justice to the guitar...especially considering Buddy influenced Jimi, his style and his antics more than anyone will ever admit.
