Kenny Wayne Sheppard has been given the huge privelege to play Jimi's Woodstock Strat at a venue on Nov. 10th on the Jimmy Fallon show. To facilitate this they are going to destroy the Hendrix vibe and mojo in the guitar by switching it to right handed for KWS-I think this is wrong.Granted KWS is a very gifter guitarist but Ernie Isley is far more deserving as far as I'm concerned.Ernie was taken under Jimmi's wing when Jimi played with Ernie's older brothers hence Ernie's very similar style.Ernie is ambidextrous so there would be no need in altering the way Jimi had the guitar and how it has been for 40+ years.Ernie recounted how he came to play lefty also by saying that one night he had a particularly lucid dream where Jimi came and sat with him and told him to learn to play left handed also.Strangely enough Ernie adapted to it with an uncanny ability.I dare say dear janie hendrix has come up with a way to milk the most bucks she can from this venture. It sickens me how she has her greedy mitts on Jimi's legacy when his legitimate siblings and many of his blood relatives languish in near poverty.I have a feeling that when she comes to the Pearly Gates there will be a "No Admittance" sign.

The ONLY other person on this Earth worthy of playing the Woodstock Strat is John Mayer!

That's a shame if they do make it a righty just for KWS. No offense to him but there are plenty of lefties to play it. Doyle and it looks like Ernie Isley would be better suited. I've heard Doyle and he's great!

The only prob with Doyle is they would have to string it upside down.

"Destroy the mojo", really?
Wouldn't making it a righty just involve a re-string? Which I beleive is easy enough to undo.
Yes it's a historic instrument, because Jimi was such an innovator. But it's still JUST A GUITAR. It's not like they are burning it, or partsing it out.

KWS is a good guitarist, but I'd rather see Chris Duarte play the Hedrix Strat.

"just a guitar". i disagree. jimi was arguably the best ever. woodstock was a huge, historic festival.
kenny can play a replica. leave james marshall hendrix's guitar the heck alone.

It is just a guitar. He is not around to play it anymore. It will go back on display and fans will just stare at it. Might as well hear it.

I just wish it was somebody else playing it.

I say we send Chet down there to rock that Strat lefty style. :D

We'll know if it's blasphemy if and when KWS spontaneously bursts into flames.

LOL,
I can just imagine a throng of Hendrix purist groupies seething at the studio and at their tv sets, chanting "Burn, baby burn!" and k.whopper
spontaneously combusts.
Boy, would that ever make headlines.
