I just wanted to state i have been a huge NFL fan for many years...and i really am just sick of Roger Goodell.

This bozo is killing the NFL for many reasons. '

First he starts dictatiing the way defensive players are ALLOWED to play football or ELSE! which is hilarious considering all rules are supposed to go through the competition committee in the off season before implemented. He's going to fine whoever he wants for whatever he wants even if noone else seems to think there is a problem.

I.e. the latest James Harrison fine for hitting Drew Brees with the crown of his helmet. This is great because i don't recall Drew Brees being upset about the hit, or even caring. But i noticed when Hines Ward got a helmet to helmet blow to the back of the head nothing was done. I might also add Brett Favre got DRILLED helmet to helmet (not the chin shot) and all that was called was roughing the passer. Interesting neither of those players were fined or disciplined but Harrison was.

This season has been plagued with injuries to all teams yet Goodell is pushing for an 18 game season. That is just about stupid. He seems to think it'll bring more money, but why would fans want to watch losing teams suffer 2 extra games? Why would teams want to risk their stars an extra 2 games before the post season? Also the schedule system is fine in its current formula, how would these extra 2 games be figured out.

Goodell want's to focus on the PR problems and NOT the actual law breakers in the NFL. Roethlisberger was never arrested or charged yet he was suspended for 4 games. About 12 players were arrested and charged with DUI's this season and off season and none were suspended or disciplined in any meaningful way. Braylon Edwards sat out of a game for 15 minutes, and that was the teams decision NOT the NFL's. The NFL could care less if someone is endangering the public and their own lives. The only people Goodell has actuallly disciplined has been Vick and Burress and that's only because they went to jail and he had no choice.

The funniest part is that he's "investigating" Brett Favre for calling someone, someone who doesn't want any part of the investigation.

So lets review:

Endangering the public OR the possiblity of a 41 year old man sending a hot chick a picture of his weiner? Well naturally something that has no impending criminal consequences or proof MUST be resolved.

Finally....Endzone celebrations....SERIOUSLY??? If its not taunting then i have no problem with a creative celebration. These men went through high school without celebration, their college careers without celebration...Now that they are paid professionals they cant celebrate they are good at their jobs? That is just $@! backwards and stupid. I loved the creativity that was just starting to emerge.

When the lock out happens i pray Goodell is fired.

I agree, can't stand what he is doing to football. Helmet to helmet is going to happen when two bodies are move at each other you can only control your self to a point. The other person you have no clue how they are going to move. Take the pads off and and hang red flags around them. Its football commissar people get hurt!!!!

Regarding all the helmet hits, I am actually okay with it. However, I definitely agree that this "new emphasis" is not being executed well or evenly. But this is a REAL problem, and they do need to take some sort of substantive action. And if this is the first step, so be it ...

My biggest problem is outlawing end-zone celebrations. That is the most insane thing ever ... As long as it is not taunting the other team or takes too long, then what is the harm? I mean, really ... after all, this is football and not a courtroom.

The Rooney's need to pay ole Rogie a visit and explain to him that they brought him into the NFL world and they can take him out.

His latest fine on Harrison is ridicules yet the NFL players assoc. sits on its hands and does nothing.

Right now its James Harrison but next year it could be your star defensive player. Lets say a he has a questionable hit in the playoffs and King Roger deems it a suspendable offense. The star player is ruled out for the Super Bowl. That is a possibility now as he wants to control a violent sport.
