The old Silvertone acoustics and electrics were really cool.My old '66 Harmony Archtone has a unique tone that's not near like any flatop acoustics-just a real cool voice all of its own and my parents only paid about $50 in Christmas of '66.

That thing is butt ugly.

Beauty's in the eye of the beholder. You'd hate my Supro. Tone wise it smokes an overpriced vintage Mustang a Duo Sonic or Musicmaster which were all student model mediocre sounding guitars. All of which I owned as a kid at one point or another. Never kept them very long. Why do you think Kurt Cobain liked the Mustang?

because by the time he had finished modding them, his mustangs were more like a les paul on steroids

Just thinking to myself today, what are some of the more affordable "vintage" guitars?

Well, if you can find a refinished one, they will be about half the price of one that is completely original. So you could get a "real" '50s Strat!
