i did ok when bush 1 was in office but i gotta tell ya, bush 2 took me for a ride. no matter who is in office it hurts some and helps others i think, depending on your field. the big O has been a joke since day 1 in my opinion. i honestly dont know anybody whos been helped with his term in office.

TARP was the bailout of the banks before Obamas term basically. troubled asset relief program.

We elected adjectives like "hope" and "change" and now we are stuck with a very flawed, inexperienced person that can't live up to his promises. Even his supporters are disappointed.

no way, we've got the house and most of the Blue Dog dems are gone. Plus everyone in the country is mad as hell, two years and our country is worse than we started out! This has to be the worst president since Carter

GM wasn't success. Now instead of paying into my retirement I have to pay for theirs and I have no say in the matter.

sometimes you can't just vote for the best dancer you have to vote for who listens to the people they serve. these People in DC think we serve them.

I made good money when Clinton was President. I Made GREAT money when Bush was President. I barely make ends meet with Obama bring president.
I'd rather be free and broke then beholden to any tyrant. Or political party.

I guess you would consider me an ignorant fool. Most liberals consider anybody not willing to conform to their vision of Utopia.

Don't blame Obama for your debts.

The media (especially Fox news) is the enemy of all Americans... especially they usually seem to be the one's who are misinformed

And I don't want to Red or Blue, I want Purple God d@mn it! I want some unity to fix problems instead of bickering and fighting all the time that never get us anywhere but deeper in the hole we're in

I personally hate everything about modern American politics and have no faith in the system

...and how did I get stuck in California? It's not fair

And I personally like Obama, it's hard to run a country or fix problems when people are preventing you from doing it because you've been in their crosshairs from the beginning

But what do I know, I'm just a 22 year old kid who stopped playing mind games with this country long ago

Pat Toomey came from behind for the win :D

I don't necessarily blame O for the state of things in the country, but i was doing a lot better under Bush, and though i didn't expect an overnight upturn of the economy... i think it would have done a LOT better for the American people to put the energy they spent into forcing the giant Health Care bill through to spend that time and energy on job growth. That is the criticism i have on how its been handled for the last couple years. I'm very pleased right now that my employer is a lot less likely to get hit with corporate tax increases, payroll tax increases, income tax increases, cap and trade. I just hope they dont decide its cheaper to pay the penalty for not providing healthcare and dump the company plan... i like my healthcare plan and as Barry said... "if you like your plan, keep it" well that's fine and dandy unless my employer wants to cut it loose.

Hopefully things will change. Where have we heard that before?
Anyway the pressure's on the Republicans now. We'll see if they can live up to the hype. See if they can bring back manufacturing and trades to the U.S. at livable wages. See if they can get health care costs under control. Promises are easy to make.

Anyone remember "The Contract With America"? or "The Contract On America" depending on what side of the fence you stand. These were things the Republicans promised if they gained control of the house in 1994. It did help get the Republicans elected though.

On the first day of their majority in the House, the Republicans promised to pass eight major reforms:
require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply to Congress;
select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of Congress for waste, fraud or abuse;
cut the number of House committees, and cut committee staff by one-third;
limit the terms of all committee chairs;
ban the casting of proxy votes in committee;
require committee meetings to be open to the public;
require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase;
guarantee an honest accounting of the Federal Budget by implementing zero base-line budgeting.

What happened to that? Like I said before, this country's been on a downward spiral way before Obama was elected. Bush did a pretty good job at spending and shoving stuff up our arses too. The Patriot Act? Okay.
Clinton, Bush Sr., old Saint Regan, Carter, Johnson you name it. Unless something really huge happens, we'll never get our country back.

Now the Republicans promise to "Listen to the People"? I'll believe it when I see it. If not, the people will fire these guys too. The swings have been massive in voting, maybe we are making our own term limits LOL.

I'm glad I live in a country where freedom of expression is allowed in our society and in this forum as well. I tend to be conservative on economic and social issues and I was pleased with the results of the election last night.

Government does some things well and others not so well. Businesses need to be regulated but not over regulated. Government needs to provide public services that are not profitable enough to entice private enterprise to provide. Government should also recognize when businesses do a better job than they do and get out of the way. Businesses need to balance the need for profit and the needs of their employees. Employees need to realize that their job tenure is dependent on their performance and not a civil right written into the constitution.

Americans whether liberal, conservative, or in between need to realize we're all Americans and work together to meet the needs of our country without punishing those who have succeeded and rewarding those who have not tried.

Thats my 2 cents

That my friend would be the perfect world! I'm extremely fiscally conservative and somewhat socially liberal. Yeah, I'm one of those legalize drugs, personal responsibility, let God take the trash out, stay out of my private life Libertarians.

The corporate greed and government intrusion in our personal lives needs to stop. We'll see what happens this time. The tables can always turn again! Seems like the American people are starting to grow a pair and are beginning to take action. Let's see if the Republicans can provide the "Hopey Changey" stuff they're promising.

Let's see what the so called new republicans do. I have my doubts though since the majority of their policies are the same failed policies of the past...(cut taxes for the wealthy, trickle down economics that doesn't work, deregulation, continuing to support the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and a continued assault on civil liberties).

Why anyone would vote for a political party that offers a regurgitation of failed policies that have lead to a serious world recession is beyond me. But alas people have short and selective memories.

And all of those that voted based on your disdain of obama's health care law, and believed all the blatant lies about it..how do you explain the fact that the american medical association supports obama's health care law?

You know the commie islamofascist socialist organization the american medical association that is bent on destroying the american way of life.
