You got a track on your way to work???

Here's what it looks like from inside the car for those who've never done it...

This was in a modified BMW M Coupe

This was in a stock Honda S2000

And this is the other fun I used to have...

That car was way too much fun!!!!

Cedar, nice videos. Eventually, I'd like to do autocross; next mod Whiteline adjustables and other goodies to tighten up the WRX.
Which camera are you using. I'm kind of torn between a GoPro Motorsport HD, hich definitely has amazing clarity, and a regular camcorder like a Panasonic. Advice?

BTW, I'm still on all 4 wheels in the photo, just looks like I lifted.

Last weekend was my first time ever...it's not racing, just an HPDE; high performance driving experience. I'm still with an instructor in the car. That's what I like about it, they teach you braking points, cornering, lines around the track. I go as comfortably as I want until I get better, then go up to the next class.

I did the autox/HPDE for 7 or 8 years, I took a break from playing guitars, now I'm back to playing and no car stuff :) so I'll give you a few pointers... first, don't rush into any mods to your car, trust me, I've been there and spent way too much, but it was fun to do. The best mod you can do is the driver. Your car stock in the right hands will probably go 15-20 secs faster at a track like Sebring, maybe even faster, it is a long track. Heck when I started autoxing I had a local who's an SCCA Nationals champion (multiple times) drive my car at the same event and he was at least 10 secs faster than me! It took me about 5 years to catch up to him.

The most important thing for track events are brakes and tires and of course you gotta make sure your car is in good shape, I'm sure you had to go through tech when you registered for the event. Take your time, listen to your intructor, ask lots of questions, let him drive your car and watch what he's doing. I ran with the BMW CCA, PCA, NASA, Chin, can't remember who esle... did plenty of events 'til I was allowed to run solo. When I wasn't at the track I was at an autox event, almost every weekend, so that helped improve my driving skills a lot quicker. There are many things you learn at autox that are a big help at the track and everyday driving. You learn to look ahead, know your surroundings, and always aware and ready for any surprises. You have no idea how many times this helped me avoid accidents from the other idiots on the road! Both events will teach you a lot about car balance, so pay attention in class and to what your instructor is telling you, you will have much better control of your car when you understand why it's doing what it's doing, and this will help you more down the road when you start making adjustments to your car, with coilovers, swaybars, alignment and tire pressure... so, go out there, have fun, listen to your instructor, focus on your line, use your brakes, listen to what the car is telling you and most importantly have FUN! 8)

Not sure about cameras, there are so many new ones out there now, back then (2004 I think) I had to use a camcorder, but nowadays my phone can do HD video! Just make sure you have an approved camera mount and your camera is secure, you will have to check with whoever is hosting the event to see if they allow novices to have cameras, some dont.

Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions :) man now you got me excited about going back to the track, it's been about 3 years! :(

That is correct! Never call a HPDE racing! This is a safe event, specially for novices. And if you ever have a problem at the track you better not tell your insurance company you were at a "racing" event!
