i was just browsing some of the artists listed on Fender's artist page and noticed that some artists who play a lot of Fenders aren't there. Where is Tom Petty? He plays a lot of telecasters and from 1976-'82 all he played was his 1964 Fender Stratocaster. Where's Bruce Springsteen? I mean he only plays telecasters. Mike Campbell, Buddy Holly, Mike McCready, Stone Gossard, Eddie Vedder (yes he plays a telecaster and is damn good at it) Rory Gallagher, Muddy Waters, Robbie Robertson and even Bob Dylan are among the missing. What's up with this?

The only ones that are listed are ones that are endorsed by fender, a few of the artists you listen are dead, so obviously they won't be backed by fender.

There ws a Muddy Waters tele at one point, think it have been discontinued

As always, there are plenty of artists that get snubbed and never get their props with a sig model. It's all about marketing and what will sell. Great players get overlooked while lesser or less deserving artists have a sig model because "the kids will buy it" or it will be more "POPular"

Mark Hoppus is less deserving to some folks. His signature P/J Bass is da bomb though. I kinda wish Fender would make an American version...

The late great Alex Harvey played a Telecaster and created a strong body of rock and roll music with it, an Alex Harvey model (in memory of) with a "Vambo Rools" logo would be cool!

if anything you would think Fender would endorse Springsteen. I mean the guy uses like 3 different telecasters a show.

You never know they may have approached him and he turned them down.

I think that Springsteens most well known telecaster was a partscaster that he made. That would explain why he wasnt endorsed by fender. I could be wrong though

He told the Chrysler Corporation to go piss up a rope when they asked to use his song "Born In The USA" back in '87 to hawk their Dodge Caravans and Plymouth Voyager minivans.

Hi RD I don't think that Bruce's Tele being a Partscaster would have much to do with it.I believe it started life as an Esquire and a Tele pickup was added in the early-mid 70s so it's all Fender.Eric Clapton's Blackie was a compilation of at least 2 vintage Strats and Fender had no qualms about making a copy of that so I can't see Springsteens Tele being an exception.
