Although I'm not familiar with the Line 6 Spider amps my daughter's boyfriend has one and loves it but then again he only uses it on the ultra hi-gain settings.I am quite familiar though with the Vox AD and VT series modelling amps and with the 12AX7 tubes in the preamp sections they are so much like the amps they model it's uncanny.A lot of people prefer the older Blue grille AD-30 to AD-120 for realism and features and they can be gotten fairly cheap used these days.

Like Way Cool said, it's alright for what it is. I have one but I never use it, I much prefer my tube amp. I think for the real high gain stuff they are O.K., but to me they just sound thin and fizzy, just too digital. But hey I'm an old geezer, what would I know?

i do agree 100%.
it will do nicely for ultra low volumes and headphone use perfectly.
i do like my tubes though.

I have the Spider III 75watt.

I have a lot of fun with it! Lots of tones I will never use but there are a few I like to mess with it. Plus I twiddle the knobs to come up with my own.
My only amp at the moment. Will get another tube in a couple of months if the finances allow.

Seems like folks either hate these or love 'em. :?

I do not like them. They are very noisy and the heavy distortion does not have any oomph. Almost a scooped sound no matter what to my ears.

your about right on with this.
they are a very digital tone having amp.
i havent played with none other than this one so i cant
comment on any of the others. its my new under the computer desk amp.
not at all bad for what i have in it.

im just wondering if i can use my distortion pedal on the clean channel
on this amp?
in doing so i'll just be using the amp for its extra effects.
i ve never messed with this type of amp so i dont know whats "allowed" with these so ya dont blow something.

I've used pod farm a lot. It is a simple, inexpensive package that works. Whether or not you like the sound is debatable. Another product is amplitude. One thing about computer based modeling is it will improve over time. You do need to buy a computer unless you already have one, hardware demands are fairly low.

I only play at home, so it is convenient to put on head phones or patch it through my stereo system. Great learning tool as well. But I've just moved on to my first tube amp and real pedal.

I got a VHT special 6, very inexpensive but a real old school point to point circuit and a boss blues driver. Won't be my last pedal. Very solid amp, no problems, works as advertised.
