I have a very bad case of it right now.

I sold my '84 Superhawk and now ... well, I want it back. No chance of that happening, though. It seems the supply of these guitars has completely dried up overnight. I'd be happy with an Invader or Rampage as well, but there's nothing out there either.

... Well, I'd be happy with a Rampage but not the new Jerry Cantrell signature Rampage, though. The body is made of soft maple and I know for a fact it sounds nothing like the originals. I could overlook it if they had chosen Alder, at least, but alas ...

I have $800 dollars burning a hole in my pocket as wide as the Yucatan Crater and nothing to spend it on. There's also a hole in my fleet just as wide as well (sold my Shoreline Gold Tele Deluxe to boot) that I just can't seem to fill with any other guitar. Well, I don't have a fleet anymore; just my amp, my Strat, and my Epi Hummingbird. I tried out a Fender Prodigy that came very, very close but I wound up putting it back. I'm stuck on this particular guitar and I don't know why.

Well, now that my rant's over with, post your seller's remorse-related story.

(and if you know where i can get another one of those g 'n ls, please let me know)

In '74 I traded a dead-stock-and-gorgeous '63 slab-board Strat for a new pair of JBL K110's to install into my '66 Vibrolux Reverb. Those speakers -- in that amp -- sounded like absolute crap......like someone torturing a smoke detector with an icepick. Then I dumped that amp for something else that I really didn't need -- a new Sunn 412S cab to go with my Marshall Super Lead Plexi. A year later I chucked that rig and came back to a Fender Twin Reverb.

If Disneyland ever builds a time machine ride, I'll be the first person in line to buy a ticket!

I've regretted selling every guitar I ever sold, so I don't do it anymore. The worst was the Vintage Rickenbacker electric 12 string!

Agreed! I haven't sold a guitar since 1975 -- my 1971 sunburst Mustang from the old Fullerton -- and it still haunts me 35 years later. Bought a Fender Cyclone hoping to fill the void but it just wasn't the same. I still have the Cyclone.

That guitar is wayyy overpriced, which is why it's been listed since August or September. If the guy will sell it for $500 with shipping, then it would be in the right ballpark.

I'm really trying to not let emotions override common sense. These G&Ls aren't worth more than $600 dollars and that's only if it's in perfect condition with the original case and case candy. The Rampage is worth a touch more, but not much more.

I really do appreciate you finding that guitar for me, though. I've contacted the seller and I'm going to see what he can take for it. He might accept my offer since the guitar has been listed for a while.

Just sent a PM to the seller of that red Invader.

Here's what it said:

Quote:
Dear dazxz,

I would offer you $450 and pick up the tab on shipping. That's all these guitars are really worth.

This one had a worn out finish, but was all original with no issues, $349 BIY:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-G-L-1980s-G ... 4cf2937448

Here's the exact same guitar as yours in the exact same condition, winning bid was only $405:

http://cgi.ebay.com/1985-Vintage-G-L-In ... 3f03e0320a

Let me know if we can work something out on a price.

Thanks!

Fingers crossed, but not hoping.

About the only guitar that I didn'tregret parting with was my '78 L/H ash bodied Strat that I traded for a Marshall JCM 800 2204 half stack-I came out way ahead on that deal.I traded in a Pan Ventures Mosrite on a HagstromII which I'll always regret as I could have bought the guitar without the trade.I traded an Electro Harmonix Crying Tone wah and some guitar practice headphones for a Vox Phantom XII and even though I came out ahead I really would like to have the Crying Tone Pedal as they were simply one of the best wahs made. Then I traded my Traynor Custom Reverb for a 135 W Traynor MK III and then sold the MarkIII when I bought my Peavey Deuce-which I didn't need to do. Then when I got my Marshalls I sold my Peavey Deuce.I'll never ever ever trade or sell another piece of gear-it hurts too much when you realize you made a huge mistake.

Well I almost had the red Invader ... but it seems someone bought it before I could see if the seller's new price included shipping. :(

Wow. I hate to be so negative, but this is absolutely hopeless.

I had a Duesenberg Star Player that I regret trading away. It was so heavy, but the pickups were incredible.

I guess maybe that red Invader didn't sell?

I got a message from the seller after the completed listing shown "sold" saying for $570 (that's with shipping) I could have the guitar ($570 is a fair price; not a bargain, but not so outrageous I can't stand the thought of it ... and it's still $30 bucks cheaper than a new Tribute Rampage and the Invader is a guitar that's twice the Tribute's equivalent IMHO).

I'm a little confused ... maybe that's just what BIN listings show after they don't sell? Maybe the seller clicked BIN to end the auction early? The guy's reputation rating is good so I don't think he's trying to scam me, but the circumstances do make me scratch my head.

One this to keep in mind, anything the G&L sells that has the word "Tribute" in it is a Samack made in Korea.

Now, My G&L Superhawk is not for sale, as I worked at the G&L at the time I got it as a factory second through the employee buying program.

Or it's made by Cort.

Or it's made in China.

I just can't shell out $500 to $600 bucks for an Korean or Chinese-made guitar when I know there are better vintage/used buys out there.

That, and I don't care for the tone of a soft maple body (blahhhhhhhhh).

Oh now you're just making me feel terrible.

I hope something happens with that Invader. I'm certain something's not right with the situation, though ...
