Hi nicholsoni: no takers on this thread yet? How odd; I thought we had several Bostonians on the Forum. Oh well, I'll get the ball rolling.

I'm from quite a long way out of town (a long way) but it happens I was passing Daddy's Junky Music Store at 159 Massachusetts Avenue just the other day. I glanced in the window and it looked reasonably big with a goodly selection of Fenders on the wall.

However, I was late for an urgent appointment with two dozen oysters in Harvard Square, so I couldn't go in for a better look around. So that's all I can tell you.

And now a visitor has kicked it off the locals will weigh in on this thread and tell you where you should be going, instead of my suggestion.

It bumped your post back to the top of the page anyhow, right?

Cheers - C

In Beantown proper and in no particular order...

http://www.mrmusicguitars.com/gallery.htm In Allston, right next to Boston. Nice shop, nice people...

http://gc.guitarcenter.com/locations/st ... e=4WWRWXGT - Down the street from Berklee - HUGE store. Lots of used guitar turnover due to Berklee College of Music down the street.

http://www.daddys.com/local/stores/stor ... reState=MA
This store gets a lot of turnover..again because of the college kids

http://www.guitarstop.com/ - Actually in my hometown of Cambridge across the river from Boston. Mom and Pop type store. Not as huge as Daddy's or GC but the folks are very knowledgeable. Well, they may be more expensive than the bigger ones. Haven't been there in a while.

There are more in and around Boston but haven't been to all of them.

For selection go to GC and Daddys...
Someone else may chime in with better picks.

+1 on the daddy's. i kinda wish they'd change their policy a little on people straying in off the street and yanking guitars off the wall.
they had a telecaster in there a few months ago with a "new" tag on it.
it wasn't

i spend most of my guitar money there... just thought it was maybe a little too far "south of town" to mention... but yeah... authorized fender dealers, and some pretty knowledgeable (and nice) people there.

so miami, wondering why scituate music didn't make the list... hmmmm

Hi Floyd: well the trees were only just beginning to turn when I was there (late September) so I didn't get it at it's best. But I've been visiting Boston and Cape Cod on and off ever since my first time in 1974 when I spent a long hot summer on the Cape. Ah, happy memories! :D

In short, it's one of my favorite parts of the world at any time of year. Howzat for ya?

Cheers - C

Thanks for the offer, but I won't have a car and staying downtown.

The reason I was asking is because I am hoping to add something with P-90's to my arsenal and haven't seen much I like around here. Would love to get a Gibson LP Studio 50's tribute but they seem pretty rare.
