I use lemon oil and a very fine steel wool...
Apply lemon oil liberally, use the steel wool on the board as well as polishing the frets, then wipe all the excess with a clean cloth...DO NOT USE THAT CLOTH FOR ANYTHING ELSE...

Good luck
Bill

+1 on the Lemon oil and soft cloth; plus it prevents dryness of the fretboard.

Instead of steel wool I use non metallic coarse scrubbing pads-they do the trick but aren't nearly as abrasive.

I use 0000 Steel Wool (making sure to go WITH the grain), then Gerlitz Guitar Honey.
