Joe Bonamassa that is. Do you like him in the current format? Is he on a down $@!&#?

I found I like his older music where he predominantly played a strat. I think he mellowed his voice and took more aggressive sound with the Gibson LP in tow. If the song is the slower ballad type he is in the groove, however as he digs more into aggressive stuff (black country communion) his singing is just ... meh and guitar solos are getting a repetitive pattern.

I really like Joe but I haven't really heard much of his stuff after Ballad Of John Henry which I thought was a great album. When I saw the Royal Albert Hall DVD I wasn't too impressed. Like you said it was repetitive. Play a riff, then stand there grining at the audience, repeat 10 times... every second song. Hated that stupid stuff, almost like his ego is starting to take over.

Still love Joe though, he can play.

I really like Black Country Communion.
Kind of like Led Zep but without the boredom and stupid nonsense about hobbits.

I read a interview with him a while back. The interviewer mentioned he'd lost a lot of weight and asked if it had affected his voice. Joe replied along the lines of that he'd pretty much had to learn to sing all over again.

I am a huge fan of Joe, so I am biased but I think he is only getting better. From Blues Deluxe to Black Rock he has gotten better vocally and he is progressing into different styles and genres. The production on Black Rock was insane, great album. I am not a huge fan of Black Country Communion though. I was at the concert where they first played together live and the lead singers vocals just sound downright ear piercing and shrill.

I definitely think he is getting better with every album though. From A New Day Yesterday to Blues Deluxe he seemed to progress slow but since Blues Deluxe he has really put out 5 great albums from track one to the end.

Can't say his ego is taking over, in my opinion. The guy pours his heart out and plays his $@! off even if the crowd isnt a packed house. At the concert in Riverside he really went all out for the crowd and played an extra several songs including the set with BCC. He interacted with the crowd and seemed like a real down to earth guy.

He will go down and the greatest of his generation in my opinion. I can't see another artist out in the 27-37 age range who is touching his playing.

Nov 20th, I will be 2nd row center seeing Joe for the 2nd time and that day can't get here soon enough.
