I've never heard many bad things about those guitars...especially the older ones.

I've been neglecting my Strats lately too, since I got my Epi LP Custom I've barely played them... but it's just the honeymoon phase, it'll pass.

Ibanez has greatly improved their guitars from when in the early 70s they were making medium quality copy guitars-although there were some exquisite ones even then.Today's Ibanez guitars are really top shelf well made instruments and I can understand your newfound love for them however you will miss the bell like quality of the Strat in time I dare say. My Epi Firebird V is enjoying top billing these days-it sounds just like a mid 60s SG but I always have one or two of my Strats close by in case I start having withdrawal symptoms.

i also picked a suprisingly nice lespaul type recently its an agile al-2000 with p90s in it. these things only run for around 225 new but they have a solid mahogany body a maple set neck, a bound body and neck and even grover tuners it was the best 160 bucks ive ever spent

Some of the old Ibanez guitars(Elger) were actually quite good. Norlan, Gibson's parent company at the time, sued them over the headstock. I think it was a lot more than the headstock though. These LP knockoffs were really nice guitars. I have an old Ibanez acoustic that I still use today that looks like a Martin D28 and actually sounds better than a lot of lower/mid priced guitars made today. It's made of real wood, Sitka Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides and I paid $95 for it back then.

I found this RG2EX1 today, at Guitar Center ,for only 99 bucks. All it needed was a setup and some cleaning. It haImages EMG designed pickups and is perfect for Rock & Metal. It's a keeper for sure!

Back in the early 70s you could get an Ibanez copy of the Gibson 1275 aka Jimmy Page style double neck for around $225 and if you were lucky enough to find one of them these days in good shape it would probably be better than the ones Gibson is putting out now with a MSRP of over $5,000 or the "Hotel California" model that has a MSRP of over $9,000.

I like Ibanez myself. I have a Prestige that is very tasty, superb action and sound. Nice playability all 'round actually, with long neck to hit those high notes in comfort. 8)

+1 on the Agile Al-2000 guitars. Great value and very well made. I had one in the beautiful Tiger Eye finish and wish I had never sold it.

I almost bought one, but back then I was too small and scrawny to handle it. LOL It was really sweet though. I lived not too far from Hoshino (Ibanez) headquaters in Bensalem Pa so some of the local music shops had tons of Ibanez gear.
