Fellow Fender Fans,

It's been a long time since I've posted, but I've been hard at work with my band, The Maplestar Classic, and we have finally finished work on our album entitled "The Get Down." This is a college band that I put together with some mutual friends about two and a half years ago, and we never dreamed we would keep making it work, but we have, and now our work has paid off. We consider ourselves a nice mix of funk-based blues rock, with a healthy dose of pop every once in a while, as you will see in the video posted below.

We recorded the whole album ourselves with our own equipment and had it professionally mixed and mastered, and also employed a professional artist and graphic designer to do the physical work.

Right now the album is available on DigStation, and will soon be available on iTunes as well as a number of other online outlets.

I need to find a way to post whole songs for listening, but until then you can preview clips of them on DigStation and if you like us enough you can purchase the full album there!

And just for you guys, here is a music video we shot ourselves with the much appreciated help of a buddy who does film work!

I'm the guy rocking the Sunburst Voodoo Strat and other Fender gear. I did most of the lead guitar on the album, a lot of the rhythm, most of the back up vocals, as well as one track of lead vocals, Why So Blue. The video is very "college" but that's what we were going for, in a reminiscing kind of way.

Thanks for checking it out guys!

-Mark

Great job on the video. Very impressive. Would have thought that it was done for big bucks. Catchy tunes too. Best of luck, great job. Nice VoodDoo too !

Thanks again for the support everybody.

and Bill I'm glad that you like Why So Blue. It's near and dear to my heart as it is one of the 3.5 songs that I wrote on the album.

Nice job MT. The music is great and I wish you and the band the best in the future. I was in college 30 years ago but after watching that video it seemed like yesterday. Enjoy it while you have it...  Good to hear some funk coming back to the indie scene.

Oxford, Ohio actually. :D Tiny little town consisting of nothing but Miami University with an undergraduate population of about 16,000 (not to be confused with University of Miami in Florida). And it's from that pool that we all came together.

Is it possible for you to update us when it is available on iTunes? I would love to purchase it.
Keep up the good work!

Thank you! I will definitely keep everyone posted. It is available on DigStation now but will be available on iTunes very very soon, so I will keep everyone updated as soon as that happens. Also, I anticipate the price to be lower through iTunes than what it appears on Digstation.

And to everyone else, again, thank you for your support and compliments!

That is the film guy's youtube account. We are also working on getting a youtube account so we can put up decent live videos. I know we seem a little disorganized with some things lagging behind the release, but we were just too excited to get the music out!
