Nevin, you win Bro. Could not participate.
Not a subject worth even the smallest amount of time.
Stay as far away from it as possible, just a word of caution.

Seems as though Kayne is looking for respect. Dropping the D-Bag lyrics, along with making a full album with a band such as Steely Dan would help.

Ok, I have a question about Kanye, P. Diddy and Jay-Z...

Who are buying these guys' recordings?

I have friends of all ages, races, backgrounds, musical tastes and levels of intelligence--and none of them have ever bought a single tune off the internet from these guys, much less an entire CD.

I mostly listen to blues, rock and Outlaw Country, but I will listen to some hip-hop myself--not to a great degree, but if I like something, I'll let it spin. I'll even go so far as to say that Dr. Dre, Eminem, Will.I.Am and several others have an ability and a talent that I can appreciate and even enjoy...but these three guys, who are supposedly rich and talented beyond belief. :?:

I (very) unscientifically polled my various friend's teenage kids (range from 14 to 18, mix of races from white to black to Hispanic to Pacific Islander), and all of them say that they do not buy (or like) their music. A couple of them have bought/worn FUBU and Sean John clothing, but not because of who made the clothes but rather the way the clothes looked.

My daughter (9) and her friends are aware of who they are, but do not know their music.

So, (1) HOW do they have so much money and power in the music industry, (2) and WHY?

I understand that Jay-Z produces other artists and gets to kiss Beyonce, so I'll cut him some slack, but the other two are complete and unadulterated douche-bags.

Go to Billboard and you'll find lots of people buy Hip-Hop. Or are you just talking about the individual artists?

Jay-z made over $150M in 2009
P-Diddy is doing Record Producing and clothing. Few years ago he was in Fortunes top 40 richest people under 40...something like $300M
Kanye is an idiot

Go by any college and you'll hear Hip-Hop everywhere.

P. Diddy isn't my thing...but he did have that cool show with musicians competing to be in his backup touring band. Of course it was cancelled after three episodes. He did try.

Kayne had his hands in the making of the Alicia Keys masterpiece "You Don't Know My Name"....

I'm talking about these individual artists. I know Jay-Z, P-Diddy and Kanye all make obscene amounts of money and I'm aware that all of them have diversified their earning potential by branching into clothing lines, movies, production, etc...and although hip-hop/rap is not my first choice, I'll give anything a spin. Tupac was a poet, the Beastie Boys are borderline genius (and can play their own instruments!) and Dr. Dre is a fantabulous producer. I can also separate the artist from his craft (I may not like the guy as a person, but I can still enjoy his music).

But I don't personally know anybody who have bought or are buying the recordings of Jay-Z, Kanye or P-Diddy...that was my question.

...maybe they're better producers than they are rappers, cuz I ain't feelin' what they're puttin' down when they have a mic in their hand(s).

What's this guy got to do with "Fender"? I bet he's never even heard of "Fender". It's not like he's a real musician....
