The Blair Witch Project, The Strangers, and Halloween (both the original and the Rob Zombie one) all scared me for a good few months.

Also Texas Chainsaw (the original) and The Devils Rejects

signs by M. Night (Nite? Knight?) Shamalamadingdong is pretty good...

probably my all time favorite movie is Aliens though... love sci-fi and it has just enough horror in it as well

Not really a top five thing here, but it's funny all the same.

Back when I was dating my now wife, we went to see the movie "Alien" and while watching the film, it was following the predictable pattern most horror films follow, it was the seen when the captain was the last guy alive and decides he needs to go out hunting it, alone of course.

Now the overly dramatic music has built up and he goes around a corner, and sees a wire hanging loose and knocking against the wall, he relax's and drops his guard, just as he turns around to see the alien bite his face off.

Now, i have seen enough of this to know what is going to happen, so I look over at my girlfriend, and she is clutching my arm hard about now as it was building up, I was more board with the film, and had the evil thought.

So.....As the captain goes around the corner, I grab her leg just above the knee, and go AAAHHHH!
Of course there is nothing in the movie to make anyone scream, but she let out one hell of a scream, kicked the seat in front of us, and half a dozen teenage girl leaped out of the seats, screaming like they were shot out of a cannon.

It was funnier then hell, everyone in the theater was laughing....as the hero got his face bit off....which made it a bit more surreal i think.

She on the other hand.....

Many years ago I watched a movie called "Videodrome" or something like that....let's just say I was in an altered state of mind, and the movie had a big impact on me as being really freaky and scary.
