With the interest and demand for Jaguars lately I think it would behoove Fender to produce a single coil 60's MIM Jag and/or Jazzmaster for that matter. The MIJs are beautiful but their price is a bit steep for the average player.I believe that if they made a cheaper MIM Jag or Jazz they'd fly of the shelves like the proverbial hotcakes.

They do have the Blacktop series. They have both a Jag and a Jazzmaster, however they are both equipped with humbuckers. It seems like a simple fix though.

missing the point....

but yea they need a cheaper jag that stays true to the original, unlike the classic player ones that have the different fretboard radius etc... as i said earlier in the troll topic, im GASing like mad for the american vintage one, but $2300 is just outside my price range

That Blacktop jag isnt a jaguar.

Anyways, there's the jaguar special. And while it's HH and CIJ, it is my favourite guitar I have EVER played. And that itsn't hyperbole.

I dunno while there is a LOT of jaguar interest lately, it's all in the what you can do with HH guitars with the jag rhythm circuit and the choke/kill, you an get some awesome stuff. So while I love SS Jgs too(Anther of my standbys), I dont think the market is quite there for it.

Hi Tochai, the "L" Series are Fenders made between '62 and'65 they almost all had an "L" prefix before the serial number.A lot of people-including me- think that they were the best sounding of the vintage Fenders. Ihave 3 L Series Fenders and I just love the sound of them,it really stands out.

I'd prefer to see FMIC re-issue a CBS-era Jazzmaster (with the bound-and-blocked fretboard). The CIJ edition has the wrong headstock decal and incorrect knobs. And such a re-issue should be available in more colors than merely 3TSB and black. Oly White, CAR, and Ocean Turquoise Metallic are mandatory.

As for the Jaguar, Im not any fan of short-scale guitars. But should such a re-issue materialize, the above Jazzmaster protocols should apply as well.

Arjay

Hi Arjay,I agree the CBS era Jazzes with the block and inlays were by far the classiest looking.BTW back in the mid 70's when a buddy and I were hitch hiking across the province I ran into a '58 Jazz in a music store on the west coast and the guy only wanted $150 for it but I passed as where were travelling light it would have been almost impossible to take with us anyway I rationalized that it needed some work and that lessened the pain of leaving it there.

No I don't think it would behoove Fender to add yet another MIM Jaguar. I think the current regular MIM single coil Jaguar is fine as is. http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0141700309
It just has a different bridge and missing the string mute of the "L series". Who uses the string mute on those old Jaguars anyway?

Oh I wasn't aware there was an MIM Jag I thought that there was only the more expensive MIJs and the humbucker equipped Blacktops, thanks for the info.
