Excellent question CV. I think what way cool jr is referring to is some one old enough to have watched that episode when it aired originally in the late 60s or early 70s. I'm not very good at math but here goes, if ten years old in 1970 that old timer would be 50 y/o now, I'm guessing, but, does that sound like an old timer?

wow you guys are puttin way to much into it.
what i mean is anybody old enough to remember Roy in his hey day
and knew even then he was something special of a guitar player.

I am old enough to have watched The Beverly Hillbillies when it was first aired on TV....Roy Clark had several appearances on the show as a country bumpkin who wore a striped suit that was about 4 sizes too small. He was cousin (somebody) who actually played guitar when he was on the show.

I saw him play about 4 or 5 different instruments on a special he did...oh say probably in the 70s/80's.
I remember him picking up a fiddle or something and playing the fire out of it and saying,"You didn't know I could do that, did ya?"...or something funny like that,I remember being amazed at the time...at how versatile he was.

Roy was adept on any common stringed instrument.
