Roy Clark was another multi-instrumentalist who'll always be remembered for his massive talent. He took Malaguena and made it his signature song-so much so that after he started playing it nobody else would because no one could do justice to it after everyone heard Roy do it.His down to earth folksy manner also drew people to him,he was a true great.

guitslinger you are my new "man in the know". good brief report on the one roy clark. is side kick for many yrs was buck owens. he was a good player himself but not even a bump on the bottom end of roy clark.
roy could play a tele with a sweet twang to it too.
you just dont hear much about the ole guy. a unsung guitar great if you ask me. cant wait to hear what some of the fellas on here who have been around the block a time or two have to say about him.

way cool jr, thanks for posting, I had forgotten about Roys appearance on "The Odd Couple", I have his first television version as a favorite on MrSolarcoasters you-tube channel. Hope this one brings a smile, another old guitar player doing Malaguena/ Classical Gas.

Roy is the man. I remember seeing him when I was a kid. My grandfather would always say "now there's a man that can pick". I took it for granted at the time.

I didn't know that Jim Stafford was such a gifted guitarist,I always associated him with humor and humorous songs like "Spiders or Snakes",pretty cool how he worked "Flight of the Bumblebee" into the song.

Excellent question CV. I think what way cool jr is referring to is some one old enough to have watched that episode when it aired originally in the late 60s or early 70s. I'm not very good at math but here goes, if ten years old in 1970 that old timer would be 50 y/o now, I'm guessing, but, does that sound like an old timer?
