my wife had the tires on her truck rotated at wally world the other day. the kid who did it left a darn good torque wrench in the front seat. let me just say right here that my wife is rather "top heavy" if you know what i mean. that still distracts me on a daily basis.
question. do i take it back? i really feel like i should because i did not pay for it. your thoughts.

Yes.

If your wallet slipped out while you were in someone else's car--whether you were distracted by her boobs or not--would you want that person say, "Finder's Keepers"?

I would take it back the next time I was there. I'm a sucker like that. Just remember, no good deed goes unpunished. Or, that could just be me.

To knowingly keep something that is not yours especially when you know who owns it is just as abhorant as stealing. These tools is how the guy earns his living. If you left your guitar somewhere for some reason and someone else laid claim to it how would you feel?

You will reach the honorable conclusion without requiring any input from us.

if you have to ask then that is your conscience telling you that you should take it back.

Always do the right thing. Getting a thankyou makes no difference. Feeling good for doing whats right is reward enough.

That tool helps earn the OWNER his livelihood. It will COST him to replace it.

I'd like to see a picture of the torque wrench and your wife before I give any advice.

As much as I would love to have a good torque wrench, I would give it back. But since it's Wal-Mart and not a local shop, I doubt they noticed that much and they'll probably fudge the paperwork and get another one. Hmmm...tough call. If you can't decide, let the missus decide.
