Greg Koch - Guitar Gristle

I'm going to have to check that one out, I keep hearing about it and I have been to one of his clinics that was great.

And bluestube, that Livelive at montreux 1982-85 is a great one as well. Pretty interesting history to the '82 show with the boos, and Jackson Browne and David Bowie hookin him up. Of course, it was a different reception in '85!

Hey, man, I agree! I think the first one is better than the second! He had more of a reason to play, like he was tryin to prove that he was better than they thought, which he was, and he still became famous!

every post you make talks about what a virtuoso Rory was, even if that's not what the topic of the thread is. At least keep it contained within the right topics.

You must be related to GravityJim..... the topic is what guitar/bass dvd's do you like...... I told you mine and EXPLAINED why I thought so. And Gravity Jim still doesn't know and likely will never know what he's talking about. I've seen other players ( SRV, Clapton, etc. ) mentioned over and over and over again - and no one seems to mind that. My first post got a lame response from GJ so I've respnded in kind. Again..... Prince, George Harrison, Todd Rundgren never will approach Rory Gallagher's VIRTUOSITY at acoustic/electric/slide guitar . Now go listen to Madonna Gravity Jim and keep dreaming !!! :P

Tell you what,,, you say I don't know what I'm talking about one more time and I'll have you thrown off this forum for making personal attacks.

In fact, I think I'll go ahead and do that anyway.

Rory would ( if alive ) say that Jimi Hendrix was a virtuoso.

A Rory and Jimi fan.

I'm not talking about only this thread. I'm talking about every thread where you insist on the idea that no one else is as good as Rory Gallagher because Rory plays a lot of instruments and forms of guitar. I'm not related to Gravity Jim, but I can read and it seems a little much to keep making this claim every time you post. It's almost the identical sentence, in a bunch of different threads, even when that doesn't have much to do with the topic.

Speaking of which, this conversation doesn't have anything to do with DVD's either, so I'm done with it. I'll end by saying I like Rory Gallagher, and enjoy watching video of him, as well. Where we disagree is his "virtuousity" and the need to state it all the time.

I wonder what Rory's Favorite Video was?

Mine were, as a youngster,
Pink Floyd-Delicate Sound Of Thunder
SRV- Live at The El Macombo,
Pride and Joy, the Videos (it didn't have the Vaughan Brother or the Unpluged stuff, but I recorded SRV Unplugged when it was new on VH1)
The Last Waltz
Clapton-Cream of Clapton
Metalica-Cliff 'em All (a Bass Player Must)
Lee Ritneur-can't remember the title, something one of my older guitar friends gave me
Led Zeppelin- Song Remains the Same
I know I forgeting an Important one :x

Nowadays,
SRV-Live from Austin
Whitesnake-Still of The Night
Crossroads both
Eric Clapton-One More Car, One More Driver
John MAyall-70th Birthday Concert
Cream Reunion
Rush-in Rio and R30
Queen+Pual Rodgers-Return of the Champions
Evanescence-Anywhere But Home

Thanks to you guys, I'll be getting
A Concert For George
and checking out Greg Koch

Note from ForumAdmin: Baliman1, you're new here and are getting settled in, and I like the idea of giving folks a second chance. That said, if you make a post like the above again you will be banned from posting here. Regardless of what did or did not lead up to this, this post lies WELL outside of the policies of this forum which I'd ask that you please review before posting here again. -Brad

"Concert for George." Not only is it beautifully shot and edited, it is without a doubt the best sounding concert film I've ever experienced. An awesome mix, superb mastering.

And if you don't feel the hair stand up on the back of your neck watching Andy Fairweather-Low reproduce George's slide phrasing or digging Sam Brown and Jools Holland tear the stuffing out of "Horse To Water" or hearing Eric Clapton pour his grief out on the stage on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," well, maybe you should look into another hobby.

I absolutely agree, this concert is amazing..

One of my favorites;

Crossroads guitar festival 2004/2007 (both are pretty cool)
Eric Clapton - One more car, one more rider (2001)
Eric Clapton- Live in Hyde Park (1996)
Cream - Reunion (2005)

StoneFree, I haven't seen it... that was Kubas's vote (he was just quoting me on "Concert for George").

I think I need that Crossroads DVD.

"Ronnie Earl: Blues Guitar With Soul" gets my vote.
