Hi all, I'm looking at buying a noise gate. Have tested a couple (Boss NS-2 & Behringer NR100) both had similar results through my JCM900.

After testing those 2 I'm disappointed. I must add I did not try the X configuration.

The main problem I have is when I switch back to my clean channel I get a serious fuzz, zero sustain and an overall ugly result. It's a little less noticable with the Boss, but still there. I love my dynamics and going from clean to full tilt OD is a must for me so neither of them serve the purpose. I'm considering a ISP Decimator G string, does anyone have experience with this unit ? (I don't know anyone who has one to borrow from for a test).

Or should I just forget about it and put up with a little noise?

I am not sure how long you messed around with the pedals you tried, but it takes some time and tweaking to find that sweet spot for the NS-2, then once you find that, its noise free city...or at least for me it is...

ISP Decimators are great--no coloration of tone, and it's extremely tweakable.

Also, the Rocktron HUSH pedals are pretty good, but the ISP pedals are better. I was not impressed by the Boss NS2; too much coloration of the tone, and affected the sustain even at lower settings...(but that's just my opinion)...

The Behringer stuff is cheaply made garbage, I'd steer clear of it.

+1 on the ISP Decimator.

I don't usually ask men this question--but did you get the G-String?

I meant the ISP Decimator G-String, you perverts!!

There are two models of the Decimator--the standard and the G-String. G-String has the capability of hooking it into an effects loop, the standard works like every other noise gate...just better.

Even though my '63 Re-issue Vibroverb doesn't have an effects loop, i went ahead and sprang for the upgrade, because there's a way to hoop it up and create your own effects loop on your pedalboard (just ask the guys at ISP--they'll talk to you as long as yhou want them to)!

I really can't say enough good about the ISP Decimator.
