i have been a fairly good boy... i want an amp. Should i ask for a 40w Orange (srp $238) or a Fender Mustang II ($200). Since i know santa don't know jack about Amps i will ask the ever knowledgeable Fender community. I don't play out, i am a beginner that is looking to upgrade to a nice amp. what say you all? Orange or Mustang? Please... no save up until i can afford a $1500 amp. that isn't gonna happen.

Hi zenbone: apparently Santa has been plagued recently by a lot of letters from dyslexic diabolists. Actually, if you can even write "dyslexic diabolist" then you know you're not one. But I digress...

There's a lot of competition in the price range you name. Care to tell us more about your musical stylings so's we can focus in a bit closer on your needs?

Personally, at that level I'd be wondering about a Fender Champion 600, or for more gain-ful sounds perhaps the Blackstar HT-5 we were discussing on another thread, or even the new HT-1. Small, but drivesome!

Earlier in the year I dragged home a Marshall Class5. I love it. That comes in well under $400 - that too much for you?

Cheers - C

The Vox VT30 is a great hybrid amp that should suit your needs perfectly. That or search the used options on a Fender SCDX. Both are very versatile and great amps.

The Vox VT 30 and other Valvetronix Vox amps are about thee best hybrids out there. They have a 12AX7 tube in the pre amp that gives the amp an authentic tube tone and the amp models and effects are something else altogether. The amp models are amazingly true to the sounds of the amps they emulate and the effects are just the same as the best pedals and rack mounts available.
