I constantly see posts complaining about the "mid range hump" in Tubescreamers, can someone explain what they're talking about?

The midrange prominent sound of the tubescreamer8 and it's lack of eq range to smooth it out or flatten the eq.

Make no mistake, such complaints are made by people that don't know how to use the pedal. The eq peak is as much what drives your guitar amp in that case as the added gain or the volume boost.

The tubescreamer also lacks some bottom end in my and lots of other players opinions.
I have one of both,the TS9 and 808.

Yeah I would agree with Niki above. In my experience, I had a tone of issues with my lot of equipment and then I learned about the "science of EQ". Don't worry about what others say.

Spend quite a bit of time in the beginning getting happy with your guitar direct to amp signal and then add each piece of new equipment and experiment
A LOT. If it still doesn't sound good to you return it for refund or sell it.

Search the net about sound engineers and how EQ curve changes as you modify your signal chain with the particular equipment. Read how to EQ to be in the mix and to jump out of the mix without adding decibels. In the past I just used to crank it to be heard and guess what, everybody will follow until music starts to be a loud mess.

Hope that helps
