Loaded question on a Fender forum, but I had an Epiphone and it was terrible! I smiled as it went out the door

Just depends on your playing style and experience with low wattage amps. I've gotten some pretty nice sounds from the ones I've played. Way better IMO than the Champion 600 just due to the speaker size.

I must say I played a Champ 600 at GC and it fizzled out when I was playing...I'm sure it was coincidental but I've never experienced that before. My Epi had the infamous HUM, that was the worst part.

I haven't heard a Champ 600 so I can't make a comment on it but I recently heard an Epi Valve Jr. head through a 1-12 cab and it sounded great.

I picked up a VHT special 6 the other night. Old school 5F2 circuit, point to point eyelet circuit board, their web site even provides a schematic. Very solid/heavy for a little 10" combo. Very inexpensive. Worked fine out of the box. Picked up a blues driver as well.

This is my first tube amp so can't comment on the quality of the sound. But........can get lots of dirty tones at very low volume. What i notice the most vs a solid state fender is bends/hammers/slides/diades sound soooo much better.

Please keep us/me informed on how you get on with that amp.

I'm very interested in em.

The Special 6 is extremely dynamic and responds well to guitar volume tweaks. Crank the amp, and control the volume with the guitar to clean up the tone. IMO you can't get too much better bang for the buck than the VHT Special 6. It's hand wired, 6 watts 10" speaker and fifty buck more than the Champion 600. I'm thinking about the head for low volume rehearsals. That way I can leave my Champ at home and just use it for recording. I think the head is around $150. They give you the schematic so you can easily mod the amp if you want to. It's a great little porch weasel.
