for me its gotta be the melvins
(caution: intensity of music may cause popping, imploding, melting, or other means of destruction to your head)

I vote for Sabbath. Speed doesn't equal "heavy" to me at all.

this is why i hate most thrash metal bands... forget if the song i posted was fast, but the melvins stuff is usually on the slower side of metal (they pretty much invented what is now called "sludge metal")

Your all so far away. This will top everything so far
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjMguKla ... re=related

I have something else so extreme i dont care to show it for now but, if people really want me to share it i will. Its so heavy it doesent even have guitars in it. It once made a friend of mine cry. No jokes.

It would have to be either The MC 5 or Blue Cheer between them they pumped out more Watts than most hydro-electric plants. They were the fathers of mega-volume playing -the original heavies.

Forget AC, for good modern English heavy you gotta look to Extinction of Mankind
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1HuPbUb8tI

Probably the heaviest thing I've seen on TV was the 1992 Brit Awards. In a time flooded with schmaltzy pop and top 20 plastic happy hardcore inspired rubbish. KLF, a couple of producers noted for their poppy top10 hits did this with Extreme Noise Terror
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_WJmllicQU&NR=1

See all the tossers in the audience after the performance trying not to express their outrage.
KLF for ever get kudos from me for that. Even I was shocked at the time.

Scott Ian of Anthrax once described Slayer's sound as the "soundtrack to Hell."

Slayer gets my vote.

They were also the only ones of the "Big 4" that stayed true to themselves. Anthrax, Megadeth and Metallica all sold themselves up the river at one point. Metallica being the guiltiest of all of them.
