I tried the HT-5 combo and it's a little monster! and it does NOT look cheap!

I am close to pulling the trigger on a Blackstar HT-5 head. We have been through this, and I really like my 150w Line 6 head. I really do ... but it is just too much wattage for how I use it these days. Any thoughts about the Blackstar HT-5?

Hi GT: well, as we know and have seen on this thread, tastes vary.

Anyhow: that HT amp is essentially a Blackstar HT pedal with a power stage added on. It's one approach to amp making, and in this case an interesting one. For the little it's worth, I have the HT-Dual pedal and it is my favorite boost/drive/distortion pedal of them all, no exception. A LOT of good sounds in there and a great deal of range.

Mesa are fab - and comparing them is like comparing a Ferrari to a Ford. We all want the Ferrari, yet it's of little use in many real-life situations. Likewise, for home practice that Blackstar is the right tool for the job: it would be just silly to blast our brains out in the living room with a Mesa on full tilt.

Give that Blackstar a roadtest why not, alongside other maker's models in the same catagory. Bangs for the buck, it's a neat amp.

Cheers - C
