I think their kind of over priced, but the one I tried( Ht soloist 60) was very good. Are maybe thinking of "Blackheart"??? those amps are kind of low end..

Shows how deceptive appearance can be.

Get a Artisan30.

I haven't played through one but I've read several favourable reviews.

They're pretty good they have some at my favorite music store and I play around on them all the time.

The Ht series are great for getting vintage and modern sounds out of (and fairly priced for tube amps). I was about to get one but I decided to get my old '68 ampeg for its amazingly sweet cleans and for being a little cheaper. (I believe that if I really need distortion that I can just get a pedal, there's hundreds of good ones out there- probably getting a big muff soon...)

The artisan series come with a hefty price tag, but they are a great investment and sound wicked. I think Jerry Cantrell signs with them (I'm sure theres a lot more artists too). :)

Dfinitely :D I'm going to look around and try some before I make my buy. Speaking of which, I ordered the ehx "freeze" pedal and it's in the mail. I can't wait for it to get here!

What kind of sound are you looking for? the
ht series sound pretty good clean but I think their shining aspects are in their overdrive... Just my opinion though (I'm not a professional)

jimbo

i was just makeing a comment on them.
i see them around a lot these days.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qPVmgMAufo
after watching this im still not impressed.
the sound is to thin for me.
my heavymetal rig from the 80's is still fully opperational
and really kicks azz. im using (was) two carvin stacks
based off of custom X100 heads. thing is, im not into heavymetal
any more lol. im building a solid blues rig now. will take about a yr to complete as money allows.
just curious about the blackstar stuff was all.
heck im not even a marshall fan either. carvin and mesa
are/were my deal. i do like the marshall JCM 2000 dls (i think it is)
i might get one to kick around for a while just cause.
i think they have a great tone to them. then theres that marshall 5watt
tube amp thats out. that thing rocks too. if i find a deal on one i'll ge it. i think my next must have it egnator rebel though.
those things rock and have features you cant even find in the high line amps. i want one bad. right now im stuck on my OCD and my blues jr.
what a great combo with a strat.

Ah gotcha 8)

I think they sounded a little sterile myself too.

I would love an egnator rebel though! Currently however I'm 18, a senior in highschool and no longer have a job, so I'm not making any new purchases soon

other than a distortion and possibly a wah I think I'm going to purchase a cheaper guitar to take to college, so I won't risk getting my am. Standard strat stolen.

I been trying out a squier cv duo sonic and cv tele custom and I am really impressed by them. I think it would be fun to have a guitar that sounds good and that I wouldn't have to worry as much, or even to experiment with.

both good choices. any squier classic will do nicely for college.

I am close to pulling the trigger on a Blackstar HT-5 head. We have been through this, and I really like my 150w Line 6 head. I really do ... but it is just too much wattage for how I use it these days. Any thoughts about the Blackstar HT-5?

Blackstar are kinda like marshall and mesa rolled into one.

You can get some really classic tones from them but like a mesa they take a hell of a lot of tweaking. Also the HT5 is a little low wattage for gigs but look at a SERIES ONE 45. It has a built in power soak which will take the watts down from 45watts to 4.5 watts and the awesome ISF dial. Great Versatility.

Also look at the new Line6 DT50, that looks pretty cool.

i know thats what they advertise but i wouldnt use the three in the same sentence. from the blackstars ive heard it doesnt come close.
maybe crate or randall, but not a mesa or marshall.

I strongly doubt you've heard one based on that statement.
