Most of the time for me, I get lyrics in my head 1st. Then I try to think of the music that would sound good with it. Or I plop a squot and play a lil something.
Then write it down.

Yep, now that I think of it I've written songs from guitar riffs, too.

Very cool everybody. I was working with a friend and we were mixing sounds on his computer. I would play through the amp and it would go through his computer and he would be recording. Then he would mess with the sound and give me Flanger or Distortion through the computer! Cool stuff.

Take the red pill.
Then when reality hits, write about whatever is weighing down on me the most.

Also always cart around a notepad or portable micro recorder to catch any ideas when they come up.
If I didn't I would not remember them the next time the old brain fired.
