I found a new book called "Guitar Aerobics" by Troy Nelson, published by Hal Leonard. It is a 52-Week, One-Lick-Per-Day Workout Program for Developing, Improving, and Maintaining Guitar Technique.
It comes with 2 CD's, the first is the Exercises, and the second is rhythm tracks to play along with.

just wondering how you liked the book. some of the reviews i read werent very good.

I'd like a new white Strat with a rosewood neck, simply on general principle.

Just to play more, practice my double-hand and other techniques.
I wish good luck and more gigs to everyone. Just be yourself, enjoy the beauty of music, you and your friends.

I have no goals of a technical/technique nature. I'm already a lead guittarist in several bands, and am frankly unitnterested in learning a lot of other techniques. I'd like to gig more in my 2 side bands, get some version of my main band together for a 50th Birthday Party gig, and maybe start playing in church again.

Because of some health issues I have not been able to pick up a guitar since I got the book. So it is just sitting waiting for me.

Guitar Aerobics by Troy Nelson is well laid out, organized, easy to follow without being overwhelming, good variety of genres, complete with chord changes, fingering, effects, standard notation and tab, good for all levels, and entirely made up of usable licks. The one complaining review I read seemed ridiculously unwarranted for what this method actually offers as granted it does not include "how to hold the pick, wrist/arm action, where the licks came from" and here is my favorite "co-ordination of the left and right hands".

Man Chet this is one to get me thinking. I have thougth about it for a couple of days. Since i started playing and was self taught until i entered college for music, i was and still am a real improv style player. i play what feels good. I wam working real hard on not be a badass soloist that goes all wver the neck, but become more structeured. When i recored a sweet solo try to remember it and play it again with little varations not a different solo every time on the same song. I mean whe i play SRV or Hendrix or some old blues, i will go out there, but songs that it fits then i want to fit in and be solid not say hey look at me i am the best.
