ok so i buy a guitar off a guy that he had bought for his son.
as a school elective, his son chose to try guitar.
the guitar set there for a month or less because his son
wanted to switch to drums (his friends were doing it) and left
the guitar alone so i bought it. getting the guitar home i noticed
that the bridge (tremolo) was a bit tweaked. i then noticed that the
tremolo pivot post was installed at a major slant and not upright
like it should be. so i sent ed treat a email questioning if this would be covered under warranty as it is clearly a manufacture defect.
he asked if i had a reciept and i told him no then explained how i came across the guitar. he sent me a reply back and said
"sadly no, this is a used guitar and NOT covered by warranty".
wow. the guitar is mint condition and not even a hair scratch on it.
its obviously a manufactures defect, a trem post installed
with a major slant to it, installed crooked.
clearly manufacturing issue, and its not covered by a warranty.
lol customer no service at its best.
fender refusing to stand behind their own f@#k up?
its not like the pickup no longer works. its not like the machineheads started to bind up. its not like the nut popped off, this is a quality control issue that should have never left the factory and fender says its not covered by warranty. piss poor quality control fender.

Fender's warranties are transferable but only if you have the original sales receipt. That's been the rule for quite some time.

Did you try contacting the seller to ask if he would provide the original bill of sale? Might be worth a shot.

he doesnt have it.
i understand the warranty with reciept deal, but if they had any kind of QC this would have never left the factory.

its a quality issue nevin. pure and simple.
its not that something WENT bad, it came out bad.
they could goodwill it and be done with it.
ive had them go way far above and beyond before on issues
less than this and not bat an eye at it.
W/O a recept.

Ask him where he bought it, maybe the store will have the reciept on file. But this is no different to any other product that is under warranty- you need the reciept to get it fixed. Im sure it has been 'the one that got away' with regard to the QC- it happens :)

probably so.
i know the companies that sponsors me will gladly fix
any of their own factory QC issue w/o a reciept.
the warranty/reciept thing i do understand if things go bad, but a QC issue is another story altogether. they could at least offer to inspect it to see for themselves how bad their QC is. it could be a nice learning aid for them.
honestly, i can fix it, but just want to see what fender will own up to.
i expect nothing less than folks to rush to fenders side on this,
however, it would be a very different story if it were theirs.

Okay, here;s what I would try.

Go back to your friend and ask him to go with you to the store he bought the guitar at and ask to get a copy of the receipt.
Most stores will be more then happy to help you out.

If all ease fails, Take the guitar to Todd Over at Portland fret works, he is a Fender warranty station and a Fender trained tech.

He can fix it.

jeffy

i have a guy that can/will fix it. it was his idea to contact fender on it.
he said that hes never seen such QC like this from fender.
he said that it was his thought that it was such an obvious screw up
that he was sure fender would step up to the plate on it.
he was wrong lol.

if you look close, draw a line across with your eyes at the very back of the trem. you can see just how bad the lean is on the trem post.
i might take pics this evening closer so you can see the QC issue im talking about. its pretty sad that something this bad got out of the fender factory.

You have to realise that Fender is a company that has policies in place that it must follow. You bought a used guitar with a defect and it's not covered under warranty anymore so you're stuck with it, you screwed up just as much as Fender did. Next time you buy a used guitar make sure to look it over.

Besides, it'll probably cost Fender more to fix it then the guitar is worth.
