Back in August, I ordered an AV '57 P-Bass in White Ash through my local dealer and still haven't received it yet. When I spoke with him today, he told me that it probably will not be shipped until January or February of 2011!! He said it's because of Fender losing their paint supplier.

Has anyone else heard anything about this and/or have been waiting a long time for something that they have on order?

Just curious.

Cheers!

In 2004 I ordered my 50th Ann. Strat in mid Feb. and it didn't arrive until mid April.I always thought that 8-10 weeks was the usual waiting time.

I ordered, and paid for, a Amer Deluxe Tele the first of August. The store told me 2 weeks to get it but called me on the following Monday to tell me 30 days to get it. So I checked back after 30 days and was told it might be 3-4 months with no real explaination. Since then, after reading a number of Fender forums it came to light that no paint, fire at the factory, lay off of 30% of the employees and misjudging the demand are several of the reasons for the large back order. Which is the most accurate? Who knows. I guess any of those could be legitimate and that is the way life goes sometimes. But, I wish Fender would just tell the truth to their vendors so they can tell us what we are really looking at instead of just leaving it hanging for months. I still would have bought the guitar, or maybe, a differnt model. I would assume they didn't want the real story out there in fear of losing sales. Or maybe they did tell their vendors but they didn't want to lose sales. Anyway, I was looking at G&Ls for awhile and when I buy another one in the next 3-4 years I just might order the G&L. They told 3 months right from the start. Then, I would know.

The G&L is a no bull proposition. They have some regular slow runs throughout the year. Summer and the end of the year. Any other time it is a for real estimate for delivery.
