I let the other guitarist in the band use my '04 Strat at the last gig because his Tele was on the fritz. I've been playing that Strat for a while and I thought I knew it pretty well, but he got some tones and sounds out of it that I didn't think were in there. I usually play the Strat thru a 212 Marshall combo, and he played it thru his Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. It makes me wonder if it's the amp difference or the majic in his fingers. I guess you really don't know what your gear is capable of until your hear it thru another player's hands.

Hey, I'm looking for a new mattress. Any recommendations?

I like listening to other people playing my guitars and rig. It's nice to get that perspective. I'm always amazed how good my stuff sounds when other people play it. I wish I could make my guitars and amp sound that good.

It's not me, it's the guitar!

Me and a buddy played an open stage once. We needed an extra amp, and since I only lived 2 blocks from the venue so I went home to get it. After we played our tunes another player came up to me and asked if he could use my gear. I had seen him play before so I said yes, but you play left handed. He said thats ok and he took my guitar, flipped it over and went to town! I sat back and listened and thought man my gear sounds good!

I thought this thread was going to be about: Ever let someone play your guitar rig and ...WOW...that someone sure sweats a lot and left greasy finger gunk all over my strings after they put a nice ding in it :P

This dude once came over to my house and I had this huge waterbed. No, not what you are thinking! He grabbed my Tele and bashed it into the side of the waterbed. my eyes became huge as saucers and he said "its ok, these guitars are pretty tough." Idiot!

The guy that I let use my gear isn't born yet and his mother died years ago.

yep, happens to me every time I let me guitar instructor play any guitar of mine. he rips it to shreds and lets me know how good it would sound if I could play half as good as him. makes me feel good to know that my gear can sound good, but sad I cant make it sound that good!

Any time one of my guitarist friends uses my gear I really enjoy it. Hearing things that you wouldn't/couldn't do from your own stuff is interesting. Some of them blew me away!

Except when your buddy RickyD comes to visit you're going to let him get his hands on the little jewel you're hiding at the bank, right? :D
