Yesterday I received another e-mail from Fender promoting a contest this time to win a Clapton Strat and bundle.I hit the link to the contest page and once again when I read the rules only citizens of the U.S. were qualified to enter.I find these come-ons maddening and bordering on insulting. To offer you something and then tell you that there's no way that you can get it is very poor public relations.Surely there must be someone in the Fender computer programming department that can do up a program that won't send these e-mails to people who don't qualify. It feels pretty disheartening to be offered a chance to win something you can only dream of owning and then have your hopes dashed. I wish Fender would stop this practice.BTW welcome to Canada Rhode Island.

The reason is that contest rules are different in other countries. A company has to file paper work in there State in which they are incorporated and those fillings vary by the state but still cover the company for the other 49 U.S. States. Foreign countries have there own requirements as to what paper work needs to be filed.
That said I it has been worked around informally I believe ( think pics people chose winner)

that misses Guitslinger's point.

They have country of residence info on us, when we sign up for the newsletter, iirc. How hard is it to run a filter to stop sending us notices for these contests we aren't eligible for?

I tried to enter also and it would not take the entry. The message said I needed to us only numbers and hyphens in the phone number. Well... that is all I'm using and it still won't take it.

I suppose we'll just have to wait for another forum competition.

I wonder what Brads got for us next?
