nothing spectacular, you just dont get the Deep bottoms you would on a bass amp.

I need a guitar amp more capable of bass notes myslef actually because when I play my Ibanez neck pup my amp buzzes out and it ruins the quality of play.

Most guitar amps can handle some amount of bass playing although I wouldn't crank the volume as you could damage the speakers with the lower frequency if they are specifically for guitar.Smaller speakers are less suitable for bass unless designed for bass.Larger speakers such as 12" & 15" can handle and reproduce bass tones better.I wouldn't use a bass through a guitar amp for a prolonged period and never at high volume.

I've heard this before...but what about the reissue bassman?

Well the Bassman's speakers are designed specifically to handle bass but they also happen to be excellent guitar amps as my 68 Bassman proves without a doubt.

Do that often enough and loud enough and you'll soon be on a first-name basis with the tech at your local speaker re-coning shop.

Don't do so at all if your bass is active. Could pop the cones at any volume.

As the others have mentioned, using a bass with a guitar amp is not a good idea unless you want to blow your speakers. But it can be done at very low volumes. Sometimes when at home I play a few bass lines through my guitar amp (Mesa Blue Angel or Champ 600) since I don't have a proper bass amp, but I keep the volume turned down to below conversation level.

A note about the Bassman RI: Yes it can handle bass (it originally was a bass amp, obviously), the circuit and speakers aren't too far off from the original. Find some of the old ads from the 50's and you'll see that Fender touts the Bassman as being able to handle vocals, phonograph, piano, and various other instruments also. It can handle a wide frequency range...to a limit. In a typical modern gig, today's bassists need more volume and bottom end tightness than the Bassman can deliver. It might be fine for bassists doing a coffeeshop gig or in the studio. Do an internet search for videos of bassists playing through a Bassman RI to get an idea of what it sounds like.
