Just like the title says, what do you guys think of Arnel? Is it me or am I the only one that finds him great? I watched some of his stuff with his old band before journey found him and I must say, he can cover aerosmith REALLY well, Led Zepp and a few other bands with ease!

Anyway here's a link to a song that is pretty hard to sing in my opinion and he nails it!!!

rdfnd1253, a lucky find for the remaining Journey members and fans who will still go to see them live. Not Steve Perry but close enough.

As Simon Cowell would say, "It sounded very karaoke."

I think he's very good, I just don't find myself very interested in their new music.

Yeah, he's a good singer but he'll always be compared to Steve Perry. And there is only one Steve Perry.

I agree though, their recent stuff isn't the best. Defiantly prefer their older stuff.

I too think he's great! A very close second to Perry.

I really like his voice. It is hard, but unfair, to compare anyone with Perry. In his prime he had a stunning voice - an incredibly high range that was almost supernaturally clear as a bell.
In some ways, strange to say - and this is a matter of taste, I am not saying one is better than the other - I almost prefer Arnel's voice. Not that he's better, but he has more low end, and there's a grittiness in that low end that appeals to me.
Revelation was good, but they need some killer, killer material to really make a mark.

I think the new guy is great. I have the new DVD and his energy is awesome. Saw him interviewed and he seems like a humble straight up dude.

I was amazed at how close he is (eyes closed anyway) ... for the casual fan, he's probably as dead on as you could ever get. I thought he did well in the concert (on TV) I saw, close enough for me given that the rest were cooking.

Journey is a nostalgia act a la Foreigner a la Styx. It does not matter how good the singer is as they will always be "Journey without Steve Perry". HOWEVER, I must say that I like their new singer because he is so open about how unhappy he is. Sorry, I can't stand Journey ... never could.

Journey died when Steve Perry was no longer a part of the band. Journey to me was Steve Perry, Gregg Rolie, Steve Smith, Ross Valory, and Neal Schon. Now, the band is a tribute Journey band.

This is Journey.

I saw Journey last year with Cheap Trick and Heart. Walked out on Journey. IMO The new singer was just an annoying Star Search wannabe. Never really like Journey that much even with Perry though.
