I have only just noticed, but there is a circular metal disk on the back of the headstock which says fender and then has 60 in a diamond, does this mean it was part of the 60th Anniversary line or something else?

I think all Fender instruments received that medallion in 2006. I have two Strats (Robert Cray hardtail and Deluxe Powerhouse) that have it.

Arjay is correct. ALL Fender guitars and amps made in 2006 have the little "60th anniversary" button. You just have a regular 2006 ___ Strat, you don't specify what model.

The 2006 'limited edition' 60th anniversary Strats had other features to distinguish them from regular production. There was a special blizzard pearl MIM Std Strat and a special sunburst American Series Strat.
