Everyone welcome! Beers are on me. :D

Huh? I see you left one in my refrigerator!

How did you do that?

Did you notice the mark of Zorro I left too? :D

I now see the mark on the door to underground bunker and a certain guitar is missing ... fair trade, I guess.

Oh yuk - it's a desert out there, isn't it? My wife has been attending the London Book Fair forever and a few years back it had outgrown Olympia and they moved it out to ExCel. After one year over there they had so many complaints and people cancelling their stands that they were obliged to come back into town to Earls Court. Hardly any more lovely as a venue, but...

You needed that Guinness for sure!

Hop, as an Allman Brothers and JJ Cale fan from the early days I've been wanting to visit your part of the world for such a long time! Catfish would be only one of the authentic pleasures to sample, I feel certain. 8)

Hahaha - well now I wouldn't have been quite so rude as to take it. But I'm pretty certain if I'd been there I couldn't have left that particular Strat untried, at any rate. Sigh...

Cheers - C

That would be cool. Can you imagine all of us in a place, say the Melbourne Cricket Ground, playing guitars? 8)

You're looking towards the 59th Street Bridge ya'll, famed in song and story. Ceri, the old power plant is in that direction but not visible in the evening. In the left center is what is presently known as Roosevelt Island, previously known as Welfare Island, and before that, Blackwell's Island. It has undergone significant development over the past 40 years but at either end are two hospitals, the one south of the bridge is where I did my first residency. At the southern tip once stood a small hospital which served as a TB sanitarium.

And the northwards view over breakfast coffee from our rooftop terrace:

Here you see the RFK Bridge with the Hells Gate railroad bridge in the foreground. To the right is the Coler Hospital complex which occupies the north end of the island. Below, and to the left, a piece of the East River Drive which runs practically the entire length of the east side of Manhattan Island. That was the view I enjoyed for several summers, a long long time ago, in a galaxy far away.

Lite'nin: Ceri and I never did touch on that topic of mutual interests. I dare say we could have spent a fortnight kicking it back and forth. Their visit really took shape pretty much at the last minute. Had they had more flexibility, the idea of setting something up, let's say, on a weekend, and inviting all interested parties to hop a red-eye and join us in NYC would not have been beyond a possibility. I held out such an invite when Tweedcase flew in from Seattle, but their were no takers. Ceri should treat himself to a copy of the DVD "To Tulsa and Back". It's a great Cale bio which every collector of his work should own.

[quote="stratmansteve"]Hi Doc - Let me know what your plans are once you know them. Over the last couple of months my company has had me traveling to the point I've spent more time on a plane than in my own bed. I missed my guitars!!

Flown by your own engines? :? Do scroll up the page on which the above is posted and find my response to our mutual colleague. I've outlined what's ahead for me in Florida. The end of December is likely the first fortnight I'll have some flexibility. As you can see, he's coming north for Thanksgiving, but that weekend will likely not afford me much personal time. I'll be in touch via email.
