Hi all: just spent a couple of weeks travelling up the US East Coast. Whilst in New York I had the huge pleasure of finally hooking up with long-time Forum user ZZDoc at BB King's Blues Club. Brilliantly, my wife and I remembered to pack the digital camera charger - and forgot to pack the camera. D'oh! So these pix are taken on a crumby iPhone without the benefit of a flash; please forgive the grainy quality.

Anyhow, the great man himself:

Image

My glass (BB King Ale) is kinda blocking the view but we are in fact both wearing our Forum T-shirts. Just too late to win the prize in the Forum Photo Contest, which would no doubt have been ours otherwise:

Am I right - I think that might be the first meeting of Forum Tees pictured on these boards? Anyhow, the most important bit: hard to see in the dark lighting but the Good Doctor's baseball cap says "ZZDoc" embroidered on the front. That completely made my night! Let the pinched harmonics roll forth...

Just want to add what a complete honor it was that the Doc could make time to fit us in. Mere humans simply would not believe how busy that man's daily schedule is: this fella is rebuilding the economy all by himself. But heck, who needs sleep? Rest is for wimps...

Thank you so much, Doc. It was a privilege and a delight.

8) - C

    Too kind, too kind! Let me tell ya'll that there can't be a more affable couple of Brits than this man and his lady. It was a great priviledge to be able to finally lift a brew with this them.
Our one failure in judgement was not to move our table to a rear corner of the room sooner in that the talent, when perfoming, overwhelms the hearing when sitting close by. Time was limited, with much to say. Keep that in mind should you ever find your way to Lucille's Cafe and are looking forward to serious conversation.

I have made this suggestion before, but Forum members should find a way to regionalize their colleagues and get together once in awhile. I've been able to do this in Florida and look forward to this again at year's end.

Oh...by the way......those ARE cheap sunglassses, of course.!

Doc

Haha - yes, my wife was particularly bothered by that gentleman's harp playing, wasn't she?

I second that. And I gotta say, anyone who can get together with ZZDoc will not be disappointed. That fella is the Tops [pun intended] and SUCH good fun! As knowledgeable in person as here on the Forum and a completely suave gentleman into the bargain. How cool!

Oh, by the way: my first ever taste of catfish that evening. That was good too! :D

Cheers - C

[quote="Blertles"]Thats awesome!! Hey- ZZDoc has his name embroided on his hat doesn't he? very swish...Hard to find a vendor who does creative embroidery. I had a first set which was more conventional in terms of logo script. This one,, and its mate, in white, were done out in Washington State, a few years ago, and are a kind of spaghetti logo. It was laid out on a computer screen. Had I had more time, the graphics would have been more identical to the band's trademark, in that I could have provided them with print copy of the band's, but I was due to leave the day after. It's on my list to get back there and have ti done more to my liking. 8)

Ceri, once again, has made the Forum proud indeed, by unraveling a mystery and in doing so completing a task most Forum members could only hope for. Meeting the Doc and having a conversation with him over a tall cool one. Thank you Ceri and Doc the pictures are fantastic.

Gosh - no! Gotta say though, it's ten years since I was last in NY: plenty has happened in that town since I was last there and it's looking great, to my eye. Time Square for example - seriously upgraded!

A very cool time was had - lotsa fun. Next time, more Forum users, hopefully! 8)

Cheers - C
