And I agree with Jeffytune, if you have to Google the name of a nominee, than it's a "no."

The last time I checked, KISS was only second to the Beatles in record sales, can think there much of a joke in my book.
Just shows that the Rock N Roll HOF is a joke it's self or KISS would have already been in there. The group was a popularity Gold Mine and still is.

Nevin, did you know that none other than Jimmy Page played lead on Hurdy Gurdy man?In fact Page,Bonham and Jones played on most of his 60s hits except of course those on the Barabajagal album-Jeff Beck Group played on that.

Actually that is disputed. Donovan says he had hoped to get Hendrix to play, but he was unavailable so page played instead. (Donovan claims Page and Alan Holdsworth payed on the track.)
However Page, John Paul Jones (who was the musical director,) and Clem Cattini (who played drums on it,) all claim the electric guitarist ion it was Alan Parker (of Blue Mink.)

Given Page says he didn't do it, it's probably safe to say Donovan has his sessions confused, JP isn't exactly known for humility.

The thing with the R&R hall of fame is it has no credibility. Run DMC and Madonna are in, while Alice Cooper and Kiss aren't. Expect several deserving candidates to be left out, and LL Cool J to get in.

IMO, based on so many of these nominees and who has been inducted already, they should change the name from, "Rock" to merely, "Past Contemporary". I like a lot of names in there although I wouldn't call them, "Rock" by any means. Chic, LL Cool J, Donna Summers, et al, Rock? Come on!

Puritanically speaking, there should be no question about Alice Cooper with J. Geils as second and I guess, Bon Jovi, third, regardless of whether one likes them or not. As to the rest, some of the names I do like but in my world, I can't call them, "Rock". YMMV.

Another year goes by and SRV is not nominated. *sigh*

I can't believe Rory is not in there yet.

Alice Cooper
Beastie Boys
Bon Jovi
Chic
Neil Diamond
J. Geils Band
LL Cool J
Donna Summer

these are the only ones i know on that list.
ok, the beasties were a punk/thrash type band long before they were a rap group.
alice i thought was already there.
bon jovi should have already been there as they were the biggest selling act of the 80's. just about everything they did went to at least #3 on the charts.
neil diamond i thought was already there as well.
j geils was good but im not so sure hall of fame worthy.
this leaves me with donna and LL. both great artists and i like them both,
however, we are talking about the R&R hall of fame right?
they dont make the cut.
there has been times in the past that rap artists have taken
best rock this or that, and nobody questioned it.
we need to find a way to be heard about this but how?
if bonjovi took best rap song of the yr the NAACP would come out of the wood work on it.
something has got to stop. if they want a group or artist to be noticed or to win something they need to come up with a new catagory for them and not cross it over into the rock sections.
they have been doing this for over a decade now w/o any protests.
we need to be heard but how?
anybody willing to go back through the awards and see what rap crossovers im talking about and post it?

Leon Russell should be in there for sure IMHO.

I just looked through all the past inductees and there are many artists who are/were extremely talented but are not really rock 'n roll ... e.g. Miles Davis. ... huh? Miles Davis rock 'n roll? I DON"T THINK SO.

... because it's jazz man! :?

For those people who really know rock music - who is more deserving than this man ????

I agree 150%. He would kick every one of these names off this list. He is truly an unsung rock hero.

Is there any such thing as a musician on this board that nominates people for the Hall of Fame or are they all sycophantic hacks that want to get their friends and people they are beholding to in the Hall of Fame?Has Scotty Moore,James Burton or any of the great guitarists that helped Elvis create his sound ever been nominated? If not that's an outrage all together. As for Rory,Rush etc. they should have gotten the nod from day one.

The HOF is one big joke. Just like all HOFs are. They creep along at such a slow pace it's ridiculous. History takes a back seat to personal agendas. I could care less about it anymore. I've outgrown the HOF a long time ago. I refuse to induct the R-N-R HOF into my list of things that matter.

i went to the hof a few years back. it was fun seeing some of the famous guitars there, the les paul log, and a few other cool things. worth maybe 1 trip.

it all changed last year when abba got in. good golly, what are they thinking. and rap and disco- don't get me started.

i won't go back-what a joke.
