I just ordered an Epiphone 56 Goldtop from Musician's Friend. They are currently on sale for $399, free shipping and no sales tax for most states. I've always had GAS for a goldtop and think this is a good deal. I'll be sure to post pics and give my impressions when she arrives. I've never had a guitar with P90 pickups before. If anyone already has one of these, please chime in!

I missed out on the gold top Tribute studio LP Gibson just released, so would defiantly like to know what you think of this Epi. Saw it a few days ago on MF also.

Although I haven't played an Epi Les Paul with P-90s I'm familiar both with Epi Les Pauls and Epi P-90s and I can say unequivically that both are exceptional. The last Epi Les Paul I played was much better in every way to the Gibson models in the same shop costing almost 4 times as much and both my Casinos have P-90s and they just sound incredible. So I have no doubt whatever that you'll be impressed with the Goldtop you have ordered.

That is good to hear. I absolutely love my Epi Les Paul Custom. The thing plays like a dream. The fit and finish are amazing and even better than some Gibsons that I checked out at Guitar center which were 6 times the price. I did change out the stock humbuckers for Seymour Duncans but I am a tinkerer and it did not sound bad before. The Duncans are an improvement though!! :D I am planning on leaving the Goldtop stock. I don't know much about P90s, but I have heard mostly good things about the Epis.

I have one and I would be surprised if you dont love it. Mine sounds like a Tele on steroids with a bad attitude when in overdrive, when played clean it sounds just beautifull. I got mine from MF a few years ago, and almost sent it back because the set-up was pathetic at best. BTW I got mine in black, I never cared for the gold, but thats just me. Enjoy my friend!

Got the new Epi today and all I can say is WOW. Best $399 I've ever spent. I mainly bought it for the looks, but she plays sweet and sounds beautiful as well. I went over the guitar with a fine-tooth comb and I can't find a cosmetic flaw. It really looks amazing. The intonation was very close right out of the box, and the strings feel decent too. I played it a bit through my Spiderjam and thought is sounded great. Then I plugged it into my Valve Jr and all I can say is tone heaven. It came in at 8.8 lbs on my bathroom scale.

I promise to post a sound clip of this guitar sometime this evening. Until then, here are some pics!! If you are in the market for a Les Paul with P-90 pickups, grab this one! It looks like the sale is over, glad I jumped on this one. I still think it's a nice guitar even at $499.

Something that pretty makes you want to run out buy an engagement ring, take a long walk on the beach after having dinner at an upscale restaurant and finally propose and make sweet love all night...

i mean......nice guitar.....

Very Nice
MF is back up to 499 on their site, but I was able to get one through Amazon for 399, who sells it through MF anyway, so go figure, makes no sense

Kong...ain't Epis sweet?I knew you'd love your new Epi as I have 5 and just picked out No. 6 for Christmas,I'd pick an Epi over a new Gibson any day as lately their standard of quality is stellar. The strings they put on Epis from the factory in my experience are of low quality as far as longevity goes,I always ditch them first thing or get my regular brand(D'Addarios) put on as a condition of purchase.New strings will really make her sing. I hope you have many happy years with your new guitar...in fact,I know you will.

Very nice Epi Goldtop. That was a great deal. I was thinking of getting a Gibby LP Studio with the worn cherry finish and converting it into a Goldtop with cream P90s, but I might have to rethink that after seeing your Epi.
