For the first time, I feel I'm making some progress playing wise. For the most part, I just tinker about in the house with my guitars. Fellow forum member Alanssaab used to come round, but the guy is light years ahead of me  I'd usually end up sitting listening to him, which in itself was an education. But..... I got to talking to a dude when walking the dogs a few weeks back, turns out he has a few guitars, full drum kit, keys, etc etc. We've been jamming for a few weeks now, he came round today for a few hours. We had a bit of a chat before plugging in, and decided to really give it our best shot. The guy is at the same level as me playing wise, so we both feel comfortable with each other. So we knuckled down to it today, we managed to do two songs in full. While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and Train In Vain (The Clash version). It was freekin brilliant guys  We got out timing right, smooth chord changes, and yer man actually managed the leads 8) I've never felt so good as this in ages, everything fell into place today. Our next jam is Friday night, to be honest I can't wait. Up to now I've taken my little VOX DA5 amp, this Friday I'm taking a Fender amp (dunno what one yet) with a few pedals. We've agreed to nail these two songs, before we try anything else. Train In Vain is my kind of stuff 8) but the other song is pretty cool too. Sorry to go on here, but I'm high as a kite  Just wanted to share the vibe with my Fender bro's and sister's.

Rock on peeps 8)

Snowy, glad you're making good progress. I felt the same way when I started practicing to backing tracks, it really helped me to start to feel the beat. I agree it's a great feeling. Keep rocking. 8)

Well done there Snowman.

Did you set a couple of songs to learn for Friday?
You both ought to pick one each. Just keep em easy. Get a structured work plan and you'll soon be leaps and bounds ahead of where you are now.

Keep it fun though.

We both agreed today, to work on these two songs abit more Nik. We are going to give it laldy on Friday mate  But I hear ya, we plan to keep it simples for the foreseeable future. It really was a blast, I was singing too. It's been a while, but the old voice is still there. I'll chime in here Friday night, let you all know how it goes.

Thats cool Snowy, :) since i quit taking lessons some time ago (good bloke but it was ALL acoustic) im trying to pick stuff up on my own, play on my own and progress/enjoyment (somewhat connected methinks) is like 1 step forward and one step back. Some days i think yeah that was cool other times it seems a slog.

Praps i need to find a peep whos at a similar level to me or even better someone who knows more stuff so i can absorb stuff.

Yesterday i took the deluxe strat out the case and spent all the time trying to coax a usuable tone out the beast, eventually i did but it confirmed why i bought the CIJ 58 reissue with the texas specials which is the go to guitar now! (bridge pup not withstanding) lol

Maybe .......... i need to get a dog

Well done on finding someone who you enjoy jamming with, it can be difficult sometimes.

There's few things that beat the feeling of acomplishment after playing something well, especially when you play with someone else.
