Why is it all you 'Mericans hate Canadian bands that make it big? Nickelback, Celion Dion, BRYAN ADAMS!!! They're all great musicians so stop ragging on the talent coming from the Great White North or you'll force me to play my Lady Gaga card.

Hey, I love Canadian bands that are big......

Rush
Loverboy
April Wine
Kim Mitchell
Pat Travers
Triumph
BTO
The Guess Who

Nickelback and Celine Dion are as significant to me as the size, shape, color, and consistency of my turds.

(and pop tart Lady Gaga could stand to be flushed as well)

Arjay

I really think everyone needs to stop thinking of a signature model as some time-honored lifetime-achievement award. To me, it is the features on the signature model
that are much more relevent for whether a signature model should exist. While I also am no Nickelback fan, I do think the novel features are pretty pretty cool:

- a GraphTech Ghost piezo bridge provides an authentic acoustic guitar tone that can be used (a) on its own, (b) patched parallel to the humbuckers, or (c) blended
- hand-stained Trans Black AAA-flame maple top
- truss-rod cover engraved with "Blackwater" in silver
- white-star decals along the upper back fretboard (in addition to standard fret markers) allow you to see better in a darkened environment

Then may I also suggest The Tragically Hip, Our Lady Peace, Spirit Of The West, Great Big Sea and if you like irish music The Irish Descendents. :D

I love the Canadian bands listed.....especially Loverboy!!

Maybe Chad Kroeger has some chops but i could care less, his voice and lyrics make me get that feeling that i need to take an Imodium.

Lets face it, RUSH is the "great white north's" only decent contribution. US and Britain own rock....and the funniest thing is that Britain just took what the blues guys were doing all along, sped it up and sold it back to us...so brilliant.

I think Nickelback is for those who don't know any better or just don't care either way about music. Some people just like music for music's sake...Me i'm picky as hell. But like all art it's subjective.

And who needs a piezo pickup on their LP? I love these all in one guitars! they are for lazy people who can't bare picking up a different guitar and possibly switching channels....

Honestly i'd love to have several guitars in different tunings than just one that changes tunings etc. thats part of the passion of guitar players having many friends to invite to the party.

You'll probably find that Bryan Adams has outsold Rush a fair bit. Excellent songwriter and performer. One thing I wonder is how you can make a statement about a whole nations musical contribution when you haven't heard it all.
Does your nation get points deducted for processed garbage top40, academy of shame halfwitts? If so then the US and UK must have a minus score.

The simple fact is that Chad has a guitar because Gibson think it will sell guitars for them. Nothing more nothing less. Looking at a few of Gibsons recent decisions, this one seems to be quite sane.
Nice looking guitar. Kind of like a Boneyard but more tasteful.

The Merle Haggard Tele springs to mind.

Vince Gill is much more deserving of a signature artist's model.

Arjay

I think Vince Gill himself would disagree with your statement concerning Merle Haggard. Merle is a Icon in Country music buddy and has been around since the 1960s, so show the man some respect, okay?

+1 here. Merle is an Icon.

Vince would be the first to jump to his defense, Vince i think has had a signature guitar at one time.

That trans-black look sure is beautiful. Much more tasteful than a lot of the crap they have been building lately.

The "Dusk Tiger" comes to mind as one of Gibby's more hideous recent creations.

Have to add Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush to the Canadian list.
Commercial success or not.

There are/were many Canadian musicians who made contributions to rock and many with international hits such as The Guess Who,Bachman Turner Overdrive,Chilliwak, most members of The Band,Steppenwolf and Zal Yavonsky of the Lovin' Spoonful and of course Neil Young who made his start with Buffalo Springfield. There are no doubt others that have slipped my mind at the present but I imagine others North of the border will fill in those I've left out.

Yet again, nobody mentions Rush. I figured they were sure to be mentioned among the list of famous Canadian musicians but oh well :P

I like rush and some of the above named bands, but I still Triumph is underated. They were pretty darn good and play with the fire is one amazing song in my opinion.

Bryan Adams is about the best thing to come out of Canada, eh. :)
