JEEZ Gibson is just giving away these things??? I cant wait until the Justin Bieber model.....

When i read CK got a Les Paul i immediatlely took a big dump and as the water spashed it reminded of every nickelback song ive heard thus far and the toilet flushing reminded me of Chad Kroeger's amazing voice..

I may just have to watch the youtube video of Nickelback getting hit with rocks to erase this horrible day from my memory..

Viva La Fender!!

Chad Kroeger already has been a PRS artist for years; apparently he still is - http://www.prsguitars.com/artists/profi ... index.html.

What these threads really draw to my mind is that we don't know the difference between the artist's tastes and playing abilities to what we see of them on tv or whatever.
Also we don't know exactly what gibson's marketing strategy is. Fender seem to go for anyone who sells a lot and will get their product seen. Basicaly they aim for new sales. If Gibson aim on player ability despite common perception, we'll never know. They did a Slash model after all  (sarcasm).

Some people can suprise you. Thats all I'm saying.

I guess i do see the point.... But PRS will sign ANYONE look at their roster. Gibson i thought had some class but i guess with artists such as:

Tom Delonge (former Fender sig), Dave Grohl (him and tommy lee are just awesome guitarists), and Kieffer Sutherland (Yes Jack Bowher has his own Gibson Custom Signature Guitar!!)

You make a valid and concrete arguement. Still doesnt change Nickelback sucks and i personaly waive my private parts at their aunty....and fart in their general direction....

My argument is that neither you or I know these peoples abilities outside of what we see of them.
We also don't know Gibsons marketing/artist signing thinking.
They can't possibly keep up with Fender on the artist front. The only way you'd match Clapton as a selling guitarist is by signing Michael Jackson and passing him off as a guitarist.
That aint gonna happen is it.
I prefer to think that Gibson are signing their artists for reasons other than mainstream sales.
After all they've always marketed their guitars as being a cut above, despite what others may think.

I thoght that Gibson was scraping the bottom of the barrel with the Keifer Sutherland model but Chad Kroeger is just going to the ridiculous extreme with it.It is sacrilege to mention his name and Les Paul in the same sentence let alone give the tool his own model.I wouldn't be surprised if Lady Gag got one too somewhere down the road.

Lovely finish and a beautiful guitar but the tool holding it is hardly a rock icon and certainly hasn't contributed enough to music to deserve a signature model,I doubt that there are many people out there that can say that Chad Kroeger inspired them to pick up guitar-if there are they'd probably be too ashamed to admit it anyway.

Oh man...Chad Kroeger? Seriously? Sure Nickelback has sold millions of albums. But if you check in the cd shops, their used bins of full of Nickelback cd's...too bad there's no real way to account for that. I even saw a store with a sign in the window that said "We will NOT buy your Nickelback cd!"

That said, that guitar looks pretty sharp though...

The Merle Haggard Tele springs to mind.

Vince Gill is much more deserving of a signature artist's model.

It's a Les Paul with Piezo bridge and electronics with a finish that looks like faded black jeans. Take a classic, dump s*** all over it and add a weak sounding acoustic voice and what do you have? Chad Kroeger ^^

As bad as most nickleback singles are, some of their album tracks are pretty acceptable.
I would like to know gibsons angle though, how many die hard nickleback fans are there with a spare $4000 burning a hole in their pocket?

I'd say BOTH of them are deserving but especially Merle. I was thinking more along the lines of Billy Corgan having a Strat or John 5 or jim Root(yes very talented) having a signature guitar. Even to go as far as to say John Mayer having as many sig guitars as he has it a bit ridiculous, but in the end it is all about what will sell, not actual ability.
